GUT CARE capsules, Probiotics vs. Prebiotics Frequently asked questions
Why is a healthy bowel so important?
Did you know that our intestines are also called our second brain? After our brain, there is no other place where there are as many nerve cells as in our intestinal tract. This also explains why we often talk about our “gut feeling”. We know how our intestines are controlled by our thoughts when we are exposed to severe stress. Because all nerve cells use the same neurotransmitters such as serotonin, dopamine or gamma-aminobutyric acid. So what happens in our brain has a direct impact on our gut and vice versa.

Probiotics vs. Prebiotics
Probiotics contain live bacteria that are supposed to settle in the intestines. Prebiotics are mostly indigestible fiber that stimulates certain beneficial types of bacteria to grow. Taking an antibiotic can upset the intestinal flora. Many therefore swear by taking a probiotic and / or prebiotic to rebuild the intestinal flora destroyed by the antibiotic.

How does the gut affect the brain?
Everyone knows how important a healthy and balanced diet is for our health. What many do not think about, however, is the interface between healthy nutrients and their utilization in the body. Who or what ensures that the nutrients from the food get into our cells, where they belong? The main part of this job is done by the intestine. It has by far the greatest influence on the absorption of nutrients in our body. The intestine thus contributes to our health and influences, for example, our immune system and our brain.

Good vs. bad gut bacteria
There are a number of different bacteria in our intestines. The intestinal bacteria break down the food for us and thus produce important metabolic products. The body can then continue to use this. In addition, these bacteria break down toxins, make pathogens harmless and care for the intestinal mucosa. However, the gut has a balance of good and bad bacteria. If this balance is disturbed, for example by an unbalanced diet or stress, far-reaching consequences can be associated with the intestines. The gut microbiota has been shown to be associated with metabolic disorders such as obesity, diabetes mellitus and neuropsychiatric disorders such as schizophrenia, autism, anxiety disorders and depressive disorders.
