Muscular, tissue and skeletal systems
- In the case of insufficient renal performance (renal insufficiency) and long-term intake of high doses, aluminum can be deposited, especially in the bone tissue, and phosphate depletion can occur.
-
Kidney and urinary tract
- In individual cases, silicate stones in the kidneys or bladder have been observed during long-term therapy with aluminium-magnesium silicate.
-
laboratory tests
- If you have severely reduced kidney function, taking medicines containing magnesium and aluminum such as the drug can cause increased levels of magnesium in the blood (hypermagnesaemia) and an increase in serum aluminum levels.
-
nervous system
- Tell your doctor or pharmacist if any of the side effects gets serious, or if you notice any side effects not listed here.

Taking the medicine with other medicines:
- Please note that this information may also apply to medicines you have used recently.
- The absorption and thus the effectiveness of other drugs is reduced by the drug.

Special care is required when taking the drug
- if you have impaired kidney function (creatinine clearance less than 30 ml/min), you may only take the medicine if the magnesium and aluminum serum levels are checked regularly.
- in patients with chronic renal insufficiency, the aluminum plasma concentrations should also be determined after short-term use of the drug. In addition, medical examinations are advisable for these patients at regular intervals (about every six months) in order to detect an accumulation of aluminum in the nervous system and the bones as early as possible.
- Aluminum serum levels should be checked regularly during long-term use. This applies in particular to patients with renal dysfunction.
