Iodide ratiopharm in thyroid disorders

Iodide ratiopharm is a drug used to treat and prevent thyroid disease. In a dosage of 200 μg, it is suitable for use in adolescents and younger adults and can also be taken during pregnancy and breastfeeding after consultation with the doctor. Classic areas of application are:

  • Prevention of iodine deficiency
  • Prevention of goiter in iodine deficiency areas and after removal of an iodine deficiency goiter
  • Treatment of goiter (Jodide ratiopharm 200 micrograms in newborns, children, adolescents and young adults)


What should be considered when taking Jodid 200?

ratiopharm iodide tablets contain the active ingredient potassium iodide in a dosage of 200 μg. Iodide can primarily be used to treat an iodine deficiency-related thyroid enlargement (goiter) or to effectively prevent an iodine deficiency. It is important to note that the drug must not be taken in the event of an overactive thyroid gland with recognizable signs. See package insert for additional restrictions.

The dosage of the Jodid ratiopharm tablets depends on the age of the patient and the area of ​​application:

  • Prevention of goiter in iodine deficiency: infants and children 50 - 100 μg daily; Adolescents and adults 100 - 200 μg daily (= ½ - 1 tablet); Pregnancy and lactation 200 μg daily (= 1 tablet)
  • Prevention of renewed goiter growth after surgery: 100 - 200 μg daily (= ½ - 1 tablet)
  • Treatment of iodine deficiency goiter: newborns, children and adolescents 100 - 200 μg daily (= ½ - 1 tablet); younger adults 300 - 500 μg daily (= 1 ½ - 2 ½)


The tablets are taken with sufficient liquid. The duration of use also depends on the indication and is recommended by the attending physician.
