The JOINSTAR COVID-19 rapid antigen test is approved for use by laypersons (so-called layperson test or antigen test for self-use). It bears the test ID AT1276/21 of the Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices (BfArM).

The antigen test is used for the qualitative detection of SARS-CoV-2 in samples from the front of the nose.

Please read the instructions for use carefully before performing the test. In summary, the following steps must be observed:

• After thoroughly washing your hands, take a sample from one nostril by inserting the swab about 2 cm into the nostril.
• Using medium pressure, slowly rub the swab in a circular motion around the inner wall of your nostril 4 times for a total time of 15 seconds.
• Repeat the process in the other nostril.
• After sample preparation, add 2 drops to the sample well of the test cassette.
• The result can be read at the earliest 15 minutes up to a maximum of 20 minutes after the execution.

My result is positive. What should I do?
There is a current suspicion of a COVID-19 infection. Get immediate medical advice or contact your local health department. Local self-isolation guidelines must be followed. A PCR confirmation test must be carried out.

My result is negative. What should I do?
Continue to comply with all applicable rules regarding contact with others and protective measures. Even if the test is negative, an infection may be present. In case of suspicion, repeat the test in 1-2 days, since the coronavirus cannot be accurately detected at all stages of an infection.

My result is invalid. What should I do?
Repeat the test. If the test results are still invalid, a doctor or a COVID-19 test center must be contacted.
