1. WHAT ARE KRÄUTERLAX HERBAL LAXATIVE DRAGEES AND WHAT ARE THEY USED FOR?

Kräuterlax herbal laxative dragees are a herbal stimulant laxative. Area of ​​application: For short-term use in cases of constipation. If you do not feel better or if you feel worse after 7 days, contact your doctor.

2. WHAT SHOULD YOU CONSIDER BEFORE TAKING KRÄUTERLAX HERBAL LAXATIVE DRAGEES?

Kräuterlax herbal laxative dragees must not be taken:

  • if you are allergic to aloe or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).
  • in the case of intestinal obstruction, narrowing of the intestine (intestinal stenosis), relaxation of the intestinal muscles (intestinal atony), appendicitis, chronic inflammatory bowel diseases such as Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis.
  • for abdominal pain of unknown cause.
  • if you have severe dehydration with water and salt losses.



Children under 12 years of age must not take Kräuterlax herbal tablets for laxatives.

Warnings and precautions:
Please talk to your doctor, pharmacist or nurse before taking Kräuterlax herbal tablets for laxatives if you:

  • certain medicines that strengthen the heart muscle (cardiac glycosides),
  • Medicines for cardiac arrhythmias (antiarrhythmics),
  • Medicines that increase urine excretion (diuretics),
  • Taking cortisone and cortisone-like substances (adrenal cortex steroids) and licorice root,
  • if you suffer from a blockage of stool in the large intestine (coprostasis) or from gastrointestinal complaints of unknown origin such as abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting, as these complaints can be an indication of an impending or already existing intestinal obstruction (ileus).
  • If you suffer from impaired renal function, you should take into account that taking Kräuterlax herbal tablets for laxatives can exacerbate salt imbalances.



Taking laxatives that stimulate bowel activity (stimulants) for longer than a short period of time can lead to an increase in constipation. The preparation should only be used if the constipation cannot be relieved by a change in diet or bulking agents. Note: In incontinent adults, prolonged skin contact with the stool should be avoided by changing the pad when taking Kräuterlax herbal tablets for laxatives.

Children and adolescents:
Children under 12 years of age must not take Kräuterlax herbal tablets for laxatives.

Taking Kräuterlax herbal tablets for laxatives with other medicines:
Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or intend to take any other medicines. With prolonged use or misuse, a potassium deficiency can increase the effect of certain medicines that strengthen the heart muscle (cardiac glycosides) and influence the effect of medicines for cardiac arrhythmias (antiarrhythmics). The effect can also be influenced by certain agents for normalizing the heart rhythm (quinidine) and medicines that can cause cardiac arrhythmia as a side effect (induce QT prolongation). Potassium loss can be increased by the simultaneous use of certain medicines that increase urine excretion (diuretics), cortisone and cortisone-like substances (adrenal cortex steroids) or liquorice root.

Taking Kräuterlax herbal tablets for laxatives with food, drinks and alcohol:
No special precautions are required.

Pregnancy, breast-feeding and fertility:
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine. Due to inadequate toxicological studies, Kräuterlax herbal tablets for laxatives must not be used during pregnancy and breast-feeding.

Ability to drive and operate machinery:
No special precautions are required.

Kräuterlax herbal tablets for laxatives contain lactose and sucrose:
This medicine contains lactose and sucrose. Please only take it after consulting your doctor if you know that you suffer from an intolerance to certain sugars.

3. HOW SHOULD YOU TAKE KRÄUTERLAX HERBAL TABLETS FOR LAXATIVES?

Always take Kräuterlax herbal dragees for laxatives exactly as described in this leaflet or as agreed with your doctor, pharmacist or other healthcare professional. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure. The maximum daily intake must not exceed 30 mg of hydroxyanthracene derivatives, which corresponds to 2 coated tablets. The recommended dose is: Adults and children over 12 years of age take 1-2 coated tablets once a day. The personally correct dosage is the lowest required to obtain a soft stool. The effect occurs after 8-12 hours.

Method of use:
The coated tablets should be taken unchewed with plenty of liquid after the evening meal.

Duration of use:
Stimulant laxatives must not be taken for a long period of time (more than 1-2 weeks) without medical advice. Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have the impression that the effect of Kräuterlax herbal tablets for laxatives is too strong or too weak.

If you have taken more Kräuterlax herbal tablets for laxatives than you should:
In the event of an accidental or intentional overdose, painful intestinal cramps and severe diarrhea resulting in water and salt loss and possibly severe gastrointestinal complaints can occur. In the event of an overdose, please notify a doctor immediately. He or she will decide what countermeasures (e.g. administration of fluids and salts) may be necessary. Higher doses of anthranoid-containing medicines such as Kräuterlax herbal tablets for laxatives taken over a long period of time can lead to liver damage.

If you forget to take Kräuterlax herbal tablets for laxatives:
Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose.

If you stop taking Kräuterlax herbal tablets for laxatives:
There are no special instructions to observe.

4. POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. The following frequency information is used to assess side effects:

Possible side effects:
Very rarely, cramp-like gastrointestinal complaints may occur. In these cases, a reduction in the dose is necessary. Very rarely, hypersensitivity reactions (allergies) in the form of itching, hives (urticaria) and, especially in the face, swelling of the skin and mucous membranes (Quincke's edema) may occur. During the course of treatment, a harmless red discoloration of the urine may occur. Long-term use or higher doses (abuse) may lead to disturbances in the water and salt balance. Diarrhea can lead in particular to potassium loss. Potassium loss can lead to cardiac dysfunction and muscle weakness, particularly when taken at the same time as cardiac glycosides (medicines that strengthen the heart muscle), diuretics (medicines that increase urine excretion) and cortisone and cortisone-like substances (adrenal cortex steroids). Long-term use may lead to the excretion of protein and blood in the urine. Furthermore, discoloration of the intestinal mucosa (pseudomelanosis coli) may occur, which usually disappears after stopping the preparation.

5. HOW SHOULD KRÄUTERLAX HERBAL DRAGEES FOR LAXATION BE STORED?

Keep this medicine out of the reach of children. Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the carton afterDo not use after the expiry date stated on the label. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month. Do not dispose of medicines via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines no longer used. By doing so, you will help protect the environment. Storage conditions: Do not store above 30°C. Keep the container in the outer carton to protect the contents from moisture.

The active ingredient is: dry aloe extract. 1 coated tablet contains: 41.25 - 52.5 mg dry aloe extract (1.8 - 2.2:1) corresponding to 15 mg hydroxyanthracene derivatives, calculated as aloin. Extracting agent: water. The other ingredients are: Lactose, highly dispersed silicon dioxide, cellulose powder, croscarmellose sodium, magnesium stearate (Ph. Eur), sucrose, talc, corn starch, copovidone, carmellose sodium, carnauba wax, colorant: E171. 1 coated tablet contains 0.03 BU
