Lacteol® active principle in diarrhea
10 billion (10x109) lactic acid bacteria - so-called lactobacilli - lie like a protective bilofilm on the intestinal mucous membrane and occupy certain receptors to which pathogens attach themselves in the event of a gastrointestinal infection and thus trigger diarrhea. Lactobacilli are already present in the intestine as part of the natural intestinal flora. In the event of an attack by diarrhea pathogens, however, they urgently need reinforcement, which they can obtain by taking preparations with lactobacilli in high concentrations (e.g. Lacteol® diarrhea remedy, available without a prescription in the pharmacy). They are characterized by their natural active principle, activate the immune defense and the intestinal flora regenerates.

Lacteol® application area
The anti-diarrheal agent Lacteol® contains heat-inactivated lactobacilli of the strains Lactobazillus fermentum and delbrueckii. The preparation is used to treat diarrheal diseases that are not of organic origin and are usually triggered by viruses (e.g. rotaviruses) in winter and bacteria (e.g. salmonella or campylobacter) in summer. In addition, it is important to compensate for the loss of fluids and electrolytes in the event of diarrhea. This is especially true with infants, children and the elderly. Teas or fruit juices diluted with non-carbonated mineral water are ideal for this. Lacteol® is suitable for the treatment of diarrhea for adults (Lacteol® capsules) and for children (Lacteol® powder) from the 1st day of life.
