Lactofem is available to support the treatment of bacterial vaginosis^® Lactic acid vaginal suppositories available - without hormones, without dyes or fragrances. The vaginal suppositories can restore the natural pH level in the vagina, thereby alleviating typical symptoms such as excessive discharge and odor. If there is a tendency to vaginal infections, the vaginal suppositories with lactic acid can also be used for preventive long-term treatment.

Bacterial vaginosis - when the vaginal environment is disturbed
Bacterial vaginosis is the most common cause of vaginal infections. A disruption of the physiological vaginal environment plays a decisive role in this. Normally there is an acidic pH value in the vagina - this is ensured by the lactic acid-producing bacteria. This acidic vaginal environment protects against bacterial infections. However, various factors, such as hormone fluctuations during menopause or during pregnancy, certain medications such as antibiotics or contraceptives (e.g. IUDs), can influence the pH value in the vagina - bacterial vaginosis can result.
One thing is certain: bacterial vaginosis with typical symptoms such as excessive discharge and odor is more than unpleasant and should be treated specifically.

A vaginal suppository is inserted deep into the vagina once a day - ideally in the supine position, with the legs slightly drawn up.

Tip: To prevent premature expulsion of the vaginal suppository as much as possible, it should be used in the evening before going to bed. Please use a panty liner during application, as the particularly good solubility of the vaginal suppositories can occasionally result in watery discharge. The vaginal suppositories are generally used for five to seven days.
