Leukotape ® classic

Leukotape ® classic
medical tape for effective support of muscles, ligaments and joints

Immobilization and functional treatment of sports injuries
Sport is fun and keeps you fit, but it also carries a certain risk of injury. The most common injuries to the musculoskeletal system include ankle sprains. Up to 20% of sports injuries are ankle sprains1. Surgery is rarely necessary. First, the foot should be protected and cooled so that the swelling and pain subside. Most experts recommend non-surgical treatment of ankle sprains. For short-term use, a bandage technique with an inelastic adhesive bandage is suitable for the prevention, therapy or rehabilitation of injuries to the musculoskeletal system. Leukotape ® classic has a high adhesive strength and is water-repellent. The medical tape/sports tape is ideal for functional bandages for the treatment and prevention of injuries to muscles, ligaments and joints.

Maximum stability with high mobility
After a sports injury, rapid healing and restoration of function are the primary goals. The sooner the active functional mobilization of injured ligaments, muscles and tendons takes place, the better the chances of a complication-free healing process. A plaster tape stabilizes the joint and protects surrounding structures so that regeneration can be initiated after a strain or sprain. With short-term rigid joint immobilization with orthopedic aids such as a bandage or sports tape, no significant impairment of functionality is to be expected. Conservative therapy can lead to greater stability and strength of strained ligaments than would be the case with longer immobilization with a rigid plaster cast.

Leukotape ® classic is particularly tensile and inelastic. The tape bandage can achieve maximum stability with the greatest possible functional mobility and thus helps to enable a complication-free healing process.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

How long can I use Leukotape ® classic?
The inelastic bandage is only used for a short period of time and can last for several days. Leukotape ® classic is not suitable for long-term use.

What first aid measures should be taken after sports injuries such as sprains, torn ligaments, pulled muscles or bruises with joint pain?
In general, if you have joint pain after a sports accident, you should see a doctor as soon as possible. He will determine any injuries and can rule out bone fractures.

The PECH rule applies to first aid measures for joint pain after a sports accident:
rest – ice – compression – elevation. This means that after an injury, sporting activity should be stopped immediately and the joint immobilized. The second step is to cool the joint and then apply a stabilizing bandage. To reduce swelling and pain, the affected body part should be elevated.

Rapid first aid can have a positive effect on the healing process.
