What is Taraxacum officinale used for?
Although most people think of dandelion (Taraxacum officinale) as a pesky weed, the plant has long been used in herbal medicine to aid in digestion and help stimulate appetite. The entire dandelion plant from root to blossom is edible with a slightly bitter, chicory-like taste.
Echinacea benefits
Today, people use echinacea to shorten the duration of the common cold and flu, and reduce symptoms, such as sore throat (pharyngitis), cough, and fever. Many herbalists also recommend echinacea to help boost the immune system and help the body fight infections.
Acidum arsenicosum benefits
Uses for symptomatic relief of: itching, dry, rough and scaly skin, eczema and psoriasis, wasting and weakness, sensitive skin, poor digestion, anxiety and nervousness.
Chelidonium majus benefits:
Crude extracts of Chelidonium majus, and also purified compounds derived from crude extracts of this plant, have been reported to exhibit anti-viral, anti-inflammatory, anti-tumor and anti-microbial properties both in vitro and in vivo.
Veronicastrum virginicum benefits:
Native Americans used the root for its properties as a laxative and emetic. They believed that the root cured typhus and “bilious” fevers, chills, diarrhea, constipation, seizures, and that it aided women in labor. V. virginicum is used to treat diarrhea and chronic dysentery
Phytolacca americana benefits:
Poke root oil is used for swollen lymph noes, mastitis, or breast cancer (Easley, 2016). History: Phytolacca americana is said to be an emetic and purgative with narcotic properties, also used for rheumatism, skin diseases, headaches and perhaps uteran cancer (Grieve, 1994).
What is Silybum marianum used for?
Milk thistle (Silybum marianum) is an herbal supplement used to treat liver and biliary disorders. Silymarin, a mixture of flavanoid complexes, is the active component that protects liver and kidney cells from toxic effects of drugs, including chemotherapy.
Marsdenia cundurango benefits:
Condurango is an herb. People use the bark to make medicine. Condurango is used for indigestion and stomach cancer. It is also used for increasing the appetite.
Hydrastis canadensis benefits:
Goldenseal (Hydrastis canadensis) is one of the most popular herbs on the market today. It was traditionally used by Native Americans to treat skin disorders, digestive problems, liver conditions, diarrhea, and eye irritations.
Lycopodium clavatum benefits:
It also reduces gastric inflammation, simplifies digestion, and helps in treatments of chronic kidney disorders. Several studies support the analgesic, antioxidant, anticancer, antimicrobial, antiinflammatory, neuroprotective, immunomodulatory, and hepato-protective activity of Lycopodium clavatum.
Sanguinaria canadensis benefits:
Bloodroot is used to cause vomiting, empty the bowels, and reduce tooth pain. It is also used to treat croup, hoarseness (laryngitis), sore throat (pharyngitis), poor circulation in the surface blood vessels, nasal polyps, achy joints and muscles (rheumatism), warts, and fever.
