Mykofungin ® 3 vaginal tablet: What is a vaginal yeast infection?
Three quarters of all women suffer from a vaginal yeast infection at least once in their lives. In about 5% of all women, vaginal yeast infections even occur several times a year. Numerous organs can become ill with a fungal infection, also known as mycosis. A vaginal yeast infection is an infection of the vagina and/or labia. An antifungal drug is used to treat it. This is necessary because the body cannot eliminate a fungal infection on its own.
How does a vaginal yeast infection develop?
Most vaginal thrush infections are caused by the yeast Candida albicans. Small numbers of yeast fungi settle on mucous membranes, for example in the oral cavity, in the intestines or in the vagina, and as a rule have no pathological significance. However, if the vaginal environment becomes unbalanced, the fungi can multiply excessively and lead to infection.
The triggers are varied:
- Weakness of the immune system due to stress or infections
- Changed vaginal flora after taking an antibiotic
- Hormonal changes during puberty, pregnancy or menopause
Typical symptoms of a vaginal yeast infection
- Severe itching or burning in the area of the outer pubic area and the vaginal entrance
- Increased white-grey, crumbly discharge
- Redness and swelling of the affected tissue
Mykofungin ® eliminates the symptoms quickly, reliably and sustainably.
The active substance clotrimazole inhibits the growth and reproduction of the fungi and kills the fungal cells. It is well tolerated because it mainly acts on the cell membrane of the fungi, which differs from the human cell membrane. The unpleasant symptoms usually disappear within a few days. For long-term therapeutic success, treatment should be continued until the symptoms have completely disappeared.
Mykofungin ® 3 vaginal tablets application
The recommended dose is once a day - in the evening - for 3 consecutive days, insert one vaginal tablet as deeply as possible into the vagina. This is best done lying on your back with your legs slightly bent. In general, a 3-day treatment is sufficient for vaginal inflammation, especially caused by yeast fungi. If necessary, a second treatment can be carried out over 3 days. The treatment should expediently not be carried out during menstruation or be completed before menstruation begins.
