What is nadh?
NADH (Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide + Hydrogen) is a coenzyme of Vitamin B3 (Niacin) in its reduced form. It occurs naturally in the body and plays a part in the metabolism and cellular respiration processes that generate energy. NADH is a strong reducing agent for redox reactions, and assists in the transfer of electrons to the mitochondria of the cells so they can produce ATP – the chemical needed to harvest energy.
One NADH molecule yields 3 molecules of ATP, providing energy to the brain, nerves, muscles and heart. Because the brain uses so much of the energy our bodies produce, symptoms of any energy deficiency we experience are likely to be first realised in the brain, with symptoms such as lack of concentration and mental fog. People therefore use NADH to help with mental clarity, alertness, concentration and memory.
NADH is a co factor of more than 1000 enzymes in our bodies, and it has been found to facilitate the production levels of healthy brain hormones such as Dopamine and Serotonin. It is presumed that the effects on dopaminergic function are the reason NADH has been reported to relieve some symptoms of Parkinson’s disease.
Our immune system requires a lot of energy to function well. Fighting an infection means increased metabolic activity, and high energy demands of white blood cells to eliminate bacteria and viruses from the body. This has led people to the use NADH supplementation to help boost the immune system. The involvement of NADH in energy production processes means people have also taken a keen interest in use of supplementation as a means of possibly boosting athletic endurance, and also as a potential treatment for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS).
Small studies have also investigated the use of NADH for jet lag, and counteracting its effects on cognitive function and sleepiness.
The starter for vitality and energy - NADH
As a biologically active form of vitamin B3 (niacin), NADH is something like our body's biological fuel, which ensures more vitality and activity. NADH is the energy-yielding coenzyme of the respiratory chain, an oxidant of the reduced form of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide, and is involved in many cellular redox reactions. In other words: NADH is jointly responsible for the transfer of negatively charged electrons and positively charged hydrogen ions. In the catabolic glucose and/or fat metabolism, it first takes up electrons and then releases them again during oxidation, i.e. transfers them to oxygen. It is an activated carrier molecule that is part of the biosynthetic reactions and ensures that the body has enough energy available. However, NADH is extremely unstable when exposed to light or oxygen,
Thanks to a patented microencapsulation of PANMOL®, however, it is possible to maintain the effectiveness of this activity vitamin over a long period of time - and all without the addition of chemical substances. In this way, NADH can fully exploit its strengths as an important energy supplier for the human organism and ensure more vitality and activity.
