Why is Aspergillus niger important?


Aspergillus niger is a filamentous ascomycete fungus that is ubiquitous in the environment and has been implicated in opportunistic infections of humans. In addition to its role as an opportunistic human pathogen, A. niger is economically important as a fermentation organism used for the production of citric acid.

 

Aspergillus niger Application:

Oral use: Take 5 drops 1–2 times a day before a meal.

For rubbing in:
Rub 5–10 drops into the crook of the elbow once a day. After 4 weeks of therapy, Nigersan® D5 should be discontinued.

Aspergillus niger Side effects:
Due to the content of specific organic components in Nigersan® D5, hypersensitivity reactions, mainly in the form of skin reactions, can occur in rare cases and an allergy to the component Aspergillus niger can be triggered. The drug should then be discontinued and a doctor should be consulted.

Aspergillus niger Contraindications:
Do not use in:

  • If you are known to be hypersensitive to mold (Aspergillus niger)
  • Autoimmune diseases
  • Children under 12 years
  • Pregnant and breastfeeding women

Interactions:
Medicines with an immunosuppressive effect can impair the effectiveness of Nigersan® D5. There should be an interval of 4 weeks before and after treatment with orally administered live vaccines.

None known.
