NYDA ® lice and nit comb with metal tines

Diagnosing and combing out lice and nits
If a kindergarten or school is affected by a head lice epidemic, it is advisable to examine your own child as well. The NYDA ® Lice and Nits Comb makes it easier to diagnose head lice because it can be easily checked for lice and nits after each comb. In the case of a head lice infestation, the dead head lice can also be removed after treatment with an anti-lice agent (e.g. NYDA ®express) can be easily combed out of the hair. The lice and nit comb has been clinically tested and has particularly narrow and long metal teeth that are rounded at the ends and are therefore gentle on the scalp. The angled shape of the comb makes it even easier to use.

Identifying head lice reliably
Especially after an infestation of head lice, it is often difficult to identify a new infestation with certainty. Even after successful treatment, nits can remain in the hair, but this does not necessarily mean that head lice have been infested again. Because the nits can also be from a previous infestation. They are then either empty or no longer infectious. Only those who have crawling lice on their heads need treatment. The NYDA ® lice and nit comb supports you in diagnosing a head lice infestation. Lice, larvae and nits can be reliably detected thanks to its particularly narrow and long metal tines.

RECOMMENDATIONS FOR USE:
Brush the hair carefully beforehand. Now take the NYDA ®lice and nit comb and hold it with the angled handle pointing away from your head. Start combing at the crown of your head and slowly pull the comb strand by strand down to the ends of your hair. The areas around the temples, ears and neck are particularly important, as this is where head lice prefer to lay their eggs. After each comb through, check the comb for lice and nits and clean carefully with a paper towel.

REIMBURSEABLE

On presentation of a doctor's prescription, the costs for NYDA ® and the NYDA ® lice and nit comb for children up to the age of 12 can be reimbursed by health insurance companies. This also applies to young people up to the age of 18 if there is a developmental disorder.

FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY

Anywhere that people get close together, lice can spread quickly. In order to clarify whether other family members are also affected in the event of an infestation, it is advisable to thoroughly examine everyone living in the household with a special lice and nit comb. In addition, close contacts of the last 3 weeks should be informed.

FREQUENT QUESTIONS & ANSWERS:

Why does my child keep getting head lice?
This procedure is related to the life cycle of head lice. Head lice eggs are very resilient. With some head lice remedies, it is therefore possible that some head lice eggs are not yet destroyed during the first treatment. Since larvae hatch from their eggs after 7 to 8 days, it is necessary to check the hair again after 8 to 10 days. A renewed treatment after 8 to 10 days can kill the young lice that have hatched from the remaining eggs in the meantime. This second treatment is based on a recommendation by the Robert Koch Institute and aims to break the life cycle of head lice. This recommendation applies to all head lice remedies, even if they are highly effective after just one treatment.

Another reason for reinfestation may be that your child has been in contact with a child who has not yet been treated for head lice. Therefore, not only the school or kindergarten must be informed, but all close contact persons of the last 3 weeks. If live lice are found, the treatment must be repeated and you should have a weekly check thereafter.

Are metal combs the only effective combs for head lice?
The decisive feature for the effectiveness of a lice comb is not primarily the material, but the shape and the close spacing of the tines. Using a conventional comb to examine the hair or combing it out after treatment with a lice treatment cannot provide a reliable diagnosis because its tines are too wide apart. In addition, even after successful treatment of a head lice infestation, nits that are only the size of a grain of sand can remain in the hair. However, this does not mean that there is a repeated infestation with lice, as they can also be from a previous infestation. They are then either empty or no longer infectious. The NYDA®The lice and nit comb has particularly narrow and long metal tines that help you make a reliable diagnosis. Its angled shape also makes it easier to use.

Can head lice survive in clothes, bedding and towels?
No. Head lice need blood to survive. Removed from the head, they are already very dry within a few hours. These specimens no longer pose a risk of infection because they can no longer produce the saliva needed to suck blood. The eggs are laid close to the scalp because they need warmth and moisture. If they are found on the hair more than 1 cm from the scalp, they are either empty or dead. In the event of a head lice infestation, it is nevertheless advisable to wash towels, bed linen and worn clothing at the usual temperatures. Brushes and combs should be checked for head lice after use and cleaned if necessary. Further hygiene measures are not necessary. Research has shown that transmission of head lice via objects and surfaces is extremely unlikely. Pets do not get head lice and do not require treatment.
