OLINT 0.05% nasal spray Application:
Olint nasal spray belongs to a group of medicines called sympathomimetics. It has a vasoconstrictive effect and thus reduces the swelling of the mucous membrane and leads to improved drainage of secretions.
OLINT nasal spray Composition:
The active substance is xylometazoline
The other ingredients are: benzalkonium chloride (preservative), sorbitol, sodium chloride, sodium dihydrogen phosphate dihydrate, disodium phosphate dihydrate, edetate disodium, purified water.
OLINT nasal spray Dosage:
Unless otherwise prescribed for children from 2 to 6 years of age, 1 injection of 0.05% Olint in each nostril is administered if necessary. The dosage depends on the individual sensitivity of the patient and the clinical effect.
Olint 0.05% nasal spray should not be applied for more than 5 to 7 days, unless otherwise prescribed by a doctor.
Use in chronic rhinitis should be performed only under medical supervision due to the risk of atrophy (damage) of the nasal mucosa.
Contraindications:
This medicine should not be used in the following cases:
- Hypersensitivity to one of the ingredients of Olint
Due to the use of non-alconium chloride as a preservative, Olint should not be used in case of known hypersensitivity to this substance.
This medicine should be used with careful consideration of the benefits and risks in patients:
- who have been treated with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAO inhibitors) or other medicines with potentially hypertensive effects
- in case of increased intraocular pressure, in particular narrow-angle glaucoma
with severe cardiovascular disease (eg ischemic heart disease, hypertension)
- with metabolic diseases (eg hyperthyroidism, diabetes).
