Polibiotic ointment is a medicinal product with three active substances - neomycin sulfate, polymyxin B sulfate and zinc bacitracin. The indications for the use of the drug are small wounds, burns and skin ulcers.
Composition of Polibiotic ointment:
Active substances: neomycin sulfate (Neomycini sulfas), polymyxin B sulfate (Polymyxini B sulfas), zinc bacitracin (Bacitracinum zincum). One gram of ointment contains 5 mg of neomycin sulfate, 5000 IU. polymyxin B sulfate and 400j.m. zinc bacitracin and auxiliary substances: white petrolatum.
Action of Polibiotic ointment:
A drug for topical application to the skin for minor wounds, ulcers and burns. The medicinal product Polibiotic ointment contains three active substances (antibiotics) - neomycin, polymyxin B and bacitracin. These ingredients have a complementary range of action against the bacteria that usually cause skin infections.
The medicinal product Polibiotic ointment is indicated for use in the case of minor wounds (including scratches, abrasions, bites), as well as burns and ulcerations of the skin.
Store the product out of reach of children at room temperature. It is recommended to protect against the effects of moisture and light. The use of the drug on mucous membranes or on a large surface of the skin increases the risk of systemic side effects - especially in people with impaired renal function. In the case of long-term use of the drug, an excessive multiplication of non-susceptible bacteria and fungi may occur.
Do not use in case of hypersensitivity to any component of the drug. Do not use in case of hearing disorders (the drug may have a hearing impairment). Do not use on deep or stab wounds, severe burns, large areas of damaged skin, on oozing lesions - there is a risk of the active substances being absorbed into the blood and causing systemic side effects (hearing and kidney damage). Do not use in the eyes, on mucous membranes. Do not use in children under 12 years of age. Do not use during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Some people may experience side effects while taking the drug: symptoms of hypersensitivity, including skin reactions (itching, rash, redness, swelling and other symptoms of irritation), hearing damage, kidney damage, infection with insensitive strains of bacteria or fungi. Dosage of Polibiotic ointment:
Use as directed by your doctor or according to the directions on the leaflet. Apply to the skin after cleansing it. Apply a small amount of the ointment to the affected area. Use 2-5 times a day. After applying the drug, the wound may be covered with a gauze dressing, and may be left uncovered. Do not use the drug for more than 7 days. After treatment, do not use the ointment again within 3 months.
