Radirex Plus syrup is a medicinal product traditionally indicated for use in the case of constipation. It is a laxative drug. The active substance is an extract composed of the rooting root, buckthorn bark, caraway fruit and fennel fruit.

Composition of  constipation remedies Radirex Plus syrup:

Active substance: liquid extract (1: 1) composed of: rooting root (Rhei radice), buckthorn bark (Frangulae cortice), fennel fruit (Foeniculi fructu), caraway fruit (Carvi fructu) (5/4 / 0.5 / 0.5) - 10.0 g per 100 g [extractant: ethanol 50% v / v]. Excipients: sucrose, purified water. 15 ml of syrup contains 12.7 mg of anthranoid compounds in terms of glucofrangulin A. The syrup contains up to 3.5% m / m of ethanol.

Action of Radirex Plus syrup constipation remedies:

A laxative drug that is traditionally used for constipation. The medicinal product Radirex Plus is a syrup containing the active ingredient a complex herbal extract (rooting, buckthorn bark, fennel fruit, caraway fruit). Buckthorn bark and rooting root are sources of 1,8 dihydroanthracene derivatives, which affect the motor activity of the colon, accelerate intestinal transit, and reduce fluid resorption. Usually the laxative effect occurs 6-8 hours after taking the drug.

Additional information:
Store the product out of reach of children, at room temperature. It is recommended to protect against moisture and light. The drug contains sucrose (12.4 g in one tablespoon) - the drug is not recommended for people with diabetes, and people with intolerance to certain sugars should consult a doctor before taking the drug. The possibility of using it in people with haemorrhoidal disease, anal fissures, after surgical procedures around the anus and in people who are permanently immobilized should be discussed with a doctor. The drug should be used in constipation, when diet and other non-pharmacological treatments are ineffective. 

Do not use for more than 1-2 weeks without consulting a doctor - long-term use of the product may weaken the intestinal peristalsis and disrupt the water and electrolyte balance. Avoid using the drug during menstruation. The drug contains up to 3.5% m / m of ethanol (i.e. up to 700 mg of ethanol in one tablespoon, which is equivalent to 14 ml of beer or 5.8 ml of wine). It is not recommended for use in children under 12 years of age. Application of the drug during pregnancy and breastfeeding: consult a doctor whether the drug should be used during pregnancy and lactation. With long-term use of the drug, due to potassium deficiency, the effect of digitalis glycosides and anti-arrhythmic drugs may be enhanced. Potassium losses may increase with the concomitant use of diuretics, adrenocortical steroids, and licorice root. It is not recommended for use in children under 12 years of age.

Contraindications:
Do not use in case of hypersensitivity to any component of the drug. Do not use in the case of: intestinal obstruction, intestinal atony, acute and chronic inflammatory bowel diseases (including ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease), appendicitis, diarrhea, dehydration and electrolyte disturbances, abdominal pain of unclear etiology.

Side effects:
The drug may cause side effects in some people. Immune system disorders: hypersensitivity reactions - rare. Gastrointestinal disorders: abdominal pain, intestinal cramps, liquid stool (especially in patients with oversensitive colon) - frequency unknown. In the case of long-term use of the drug, water and electrolyte imbalance, proteinuria and haematuria may occur. In the case of long-term use of the drug, pigmentation of the intestinal mucosa (pseudomelanosis coli) may occur, which usually disappears after stopping the drug. During the use of the drug, a yellow or red-brown (depending on the pH) color of the urine may appear, which is related to the presence of metabolites of active substances in it (this is not clinically significant).

Dosage of constipation remedies Radirex Plus syrup:

Use as directed by your doctor or according to the instructions on the leaflet. In adults: use 30 ml of the syrup (two tablespoons) at bedtime (25.4 mg of anthranoid compounds as glucofrangulin A). In adolescents over 12 years of age: use 10-15 ml (2 to 3 teaspoons) at bedtime (8.5 to 12.7 mg of anthranoid compounds as glucofrangulin A).
