- Rectanal rectal fluid is a medicinal product containing hypertonic sodium phosphate solution. The product has a laxative effect, it is recommended for occasional constipation and for colon cleansing before tests.
Composition of Rectanal rectal fluid, sodium phosphate solution:
100ml solution contains: sodium dihydrogen phosphate - 14g, sodium hydrogen phosphate - 5g and auxiliary substances: sodium benzoate (E 211), sodium propionate (E 281), purified water.

The laxative effect of Rectanal rectal fluid, sodium phosphate solution is used primarily to cleanse the large intestine before diagnostic tests, before delivery or before surgery. In addition, Rectanal can be used for occasional constipation. The hypertonic solution of sodium phosphate contained in the drug has a laxative effect - it softens fecal masses (prevents water absorption), stimulates bowel movement in a short time. The liquid is enclosed in a bottle with a special tip that allows safe application.
Application:
Rectanal rectal fluid indicated for use in colon cleansing prior to diagnostic tests as well as before surgery and before delivery, for use in occasional constipation (e.g. after contrast agents or surgery). Suitable for use over 3 years of age.
Additional information:
Keep the product out of reach of children at room temperature. It is recommended to protect against moisture and light. When using diuretics or calcium channel blockers, electrolyte levels may change.
Contraindications:
Do not use in case of hypersensitivity to any component of the fluid. Do not use in the case of perforation of the large intestine, intestinal obstruction, or ulcerative colitis (or suspected of these conditions), severe general condition, heart disease, congestive heart failure, severe renal failure, hypertension, abdominal pain, appendicitis. Do not use below 3 years of age. Do not use in case of dehydration. Do not use in the case of vomiting and nausea for an unknown reason. Do not use during pregnancy (except for immediate preparation for delivery).
Side effects:
Some people may experience side effects while taking this medicine. Rare: transient hypocalcaemia and hypernatremia, which lead to dehydration, gastrointestinal disorders, large intestine disorders (with frequent use).
Dosage of Rectanal rectal fluid, sodium phosphate solution:
Use as directed by your doctor or as directed on the leaflet. Do not exceed the recommended doses. It is usually recommended to use about 120-150ml of fluid in adults, in children from 3 to 12 years old - about 60-90ml. Apply in the evening on the day preceding the planned examination or surgery and on the day of surgery. After applying the drug, wait about 2-5 minutes, or until you feel a pressure, then defecate. After taking the medicine, drink extra liquid. For constipation, the drug should not be used for more than one week. Do not use more than once a day. The fluid should be at room temperature.
