Shiitake has been a traditional delicacy in Japan, Korea and China for centuries. In the meantime it has found its way into the kitchens of Europe and North America. This very tasty mushroom has the taste quality "umami", which is now recognized in modern science as the fifth taste quality that can be perceived through the tongue, alongside sweet, salty, bitter and sour. This flavor characterizes protein-rich foods in particular (e.g. meat, legumes and mushrooms). In addition, it has been used there in a variety of ways for more than 3,000 years and is also known as the “king of mushrooms”. It makes a very high contribution to a balanced diet.
The much sought-after mushroom has been cultivated by people in the Far Eastern regions for over 1000 years. The first written record of cultivation dates from the Sung Dynasty (10th century).

Our company is one of the first European companies to cultivate this mushroom outside of its traditional areas of origin. We are therefore very fortunate, as pioneers in the cultivation of medicinal mushrooms, to have played a key role in establishing this wonderful mushroom in Germany.
The cultivation takes place in our company on a special Shiitake wood substrate. It takes a lot of instinct and a great deal of experience to give this sensitive mushroom what it needs to grow.

The cultivation and processing into mushroom powder capsules takes place entirely and exclusively in our company in Limeshain, Germany. The ripe, freshly harvested mushroom is dried immediately after harvest in our special, gentle drying process, gently ground to powder with a water-cooled mill and filled into HPMC capsules. There is no intermediate storage (e.g. in a cold store). Through the immediate, fast and gentle processing, we guarantee that all important ingredients are retained and that the fungus does not lose its natural, useful properties for human nutrition. Millet may be included.
