Dry eye or keratoconjunctivitis sicca affects 15-17% of the total population in Germany. It is a multifactorial disorder of the tear film and the surface of the eye. An intact tear film is essential for healthy eyes because it wets the surface of the eye, keeps it smooth and supple, flushes out foreign bodies and protects against bacterial infections. In addition, the cornea and conjunctiva are supplied with oxygen and nutrients. If the quality or quantity of the tear film is disturbed, typical symptoms such as tired, burning, itchy and scratchy eyes, increased tear flow, sensitivity to light, reddening of the conjunctiva or a feeling of dryness arise. Dry eye is a chronic disease that should be treated early in order to avoid consequential damage to the surface of the eye.® MULTI - proven for more than 20 years. The preparation can be used for daily moistening in all forms of dry eye. VISMED ® MULTI is free from preservatives and therefore very well tolerated - even for chronic complaints with damaged lacrimal glands.
With 0.18% hyaluronic, hyaluronate
acid, hyaluronic acid is an endogenous substance that, as part of the tear fluid, ensures that moisture is stored and nutrients can be transported. With their special physical and chemical properties, biotechnologically produced hyaluronic acid solutions are similar to natural tear fluid. They are therefore very popular in ophthalmology to treat dry eye. The product VISMED ®MULTI contains 0.18% hyaluronic acid. Clinical studies prove the effectiveness of VISMED ® MULTI and a significant reduction in symptoms. *

USE: Twist
off the cap, tilt your head back and hold the drip opening over the eye to be treated. With the index finger of one hand, pull the lower lid of the eye downwards. A drop of the VISMED ® MULTI solution is released by gently squeezing the bottle . Unless otherwise recommended, 1-2 drops of VISMED ® as requiredDrip MULTI into the conjunctival sac. Do not bring the dropper tip into contact with the eye or touch it with your fingers. The blink of an eye spreads the solution and forms a transparent and durable layer of liquid on the surface of the eye. HORMONAL CHANGES Pregnant women and women going through menopause are subject to hormonal fluctuations and changes. These can promote dry eyes and cause unpleasant complaints. DISEASES Dry eye risk factors such as diabetes mellitus, dermatological and rheumatic diseases, as well as irradiation of the head influence the production of the tear film. The use of certain medications can also negatively affect the tear fluid.
CLIMATE FACTORS
Environmental factors such as smoke, ozone, wind, dust and cold influence the quality and quantity of tear fluid. Dry heating air and staying in air-conditioned rooms can also promote dry eyes.
SCREEN ACTIVITIES The terms “office eye syndrome” and “gamer eye” are common. They apply to people who keep looking at the screen for long periods of time. If you blink less often, the tear fluid is distributed more poorly and the affected people complain of dry eyes. FREQUENT QUESTIONS & ANSWERS: Can you prevent dry eyes?
For example, by always making sure to drink enough water or unsweetened tea, you can contribute to the well-being of your eyes yourself. A balanced diet with plenty of fruit and vegetables also provides important nutrients for your eyes.
Ensure regular ventilation of living and office spaces. At the same time, protect your eyes from drafts and avoid cigarette smoke. In strong sunlight, you should protect your eyes by wearing sunglasses.
What does the addition: "prescribable product" mean?
VISMED ® MULTI is approved as a medical product. As such, if your doctor finds a therapeutic necessity, the cost of VISMED ®MULTI can be reimbursed by the statutory health insurance companies. The preparation can therefore be prescribed, but not subject to prescription.
VISMED ® MULTI can be prescribed for
• various autoimmune diseases (Sjögren's syndrome with significant functional disorders, epidermolysis bullosa or ocular pemphigoid)
• missing or damaged lacrimal gland, paralysis of the facial nerves (facial nerve palsy) or incomplete eyelid closure (lagophthalmus).
Why does VISMED ® MULTI contain electrolytes?
Since the cornea does not contain any blood vessels, it has to be supplied from “outside”. The electrolytes ensure an optimal supply of the eye and counteract cell loss. VISMED ®MULTI contains the electrolytes potassium, magnesium and calcium in a concentration corresponding to the tear film.
What is a dosing container with an "OSD system"?
OSD stands for O phthalmic S queeze D ispenser. The VISMED ® MULTI bottle is equipped with an innovative dosing system that does not contain any preservatives, as the product does not come into contact with air. OSD systems are particularly beneficial for chronic diseases that require prolonged use. The patented system was developed in Germany and works like a standard dropper bottle.
