VISMED single doses

Dry eye or keratoconjunctivitis sicca is a widespread disease in Germany and affects 15-17% of the total population. The dry eye is a disorder of the tear film and the surface of the eye caused by many factors. The tear fluid is essential for the health of our eyes because it wets the surface of the eye, keeps it smooth and supple, flushes out foreign bodies and fends off bacterial infections. It also supplies the cornea and conjunctiva with oxygen and nutrients. If the quality or quantity of the tear fluid is disturbed, the subjectively disturbing complaints arise. These include tired, burning, itchy and scratchy eyes, increased tear flow, sensitivity to light, reddening of the conjunctiva and a feeling of dryness. Dry eye is usually a chronic disease, which should be treated early in order to avoid consequential damage. Medical wetting solutions with hyaluronic acid - such as VISMED® - have proven themselves for more than 20 years. The preparation does not contain any preservatives and is therefore very well tolerated. VISMED® can also be used for daily moistening in the case of chronic complaints with damaged lacrimal glands.

With 0.18% hyaluronic
acid, hyaluronic acid is an endogenous substance that,
against keratoconjunctivitis sicca as part of the tear fluid, ensures that moisture is stored and nutrients can be transported. With their special physical and chemical properties, biotechnologically produced hyaluronic acid solutions are similar to natural tear fluid. They are therefore very popular in ophthalmology to treat dry eye. The product VISMED® contains 0.18% hyaluronic acid. Clinical studies confirm the effectiveness of VISMED® and a significant reduction in symptoms. *

Against keratoconjunctivitis sicca RECOMMENDED USE:
Unscrew the cap of the ampoule, tilt your head slightly back and hold the drip opening over the eye to be treated. With the index finger of one hand, pull the lower lid of the eye downwards. A drop of the VISMED® solution is released by pressing gently. Unless otherwise recommended by the doctor, add 1-2 drops of VISMED® to the conjunctival sac as required. Do not bring the dropper tip into contact with the eye or touch it with your fingers. With the blink of an eye, the solution is evenly distributed and forms a transparent and durable layer of liquid on the surface of the eye. Do not use damaged ampoules. HORMONAL CHANGES

Pregnant women and women going through menopause are subject to hormonal fluctuations and changes. These can promote dry eyes and cause unpleasant complaints.

DISEASES Different risk factors influence the production of tear fluid. These include, for example, diabetes mellitus, dermatological and rheumatic diseases, as well as irradiation of the head. The use of certain medications can also have a negative effect on the tear film. ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS Smoke, ozone, wind, dust and cold influence the quality and quantity of the tear film. Dry heating air and staying in air-conditioned rooms can also promote dry eyes. SCREEN ACTIVITIES. Against keratoconjunctivitis sicca

The terms "Office Eye Syndrome" and "Gamer Eye" are well known. They apply to people who keep looking at the screen for long periods of time. As a result, the tear fluid is distributed more poorly and the affected people complain of dry eyes.

FREQUENT QUESTIONS & ANSWERS:

Can you prevent dry eyes?
You can contribute to the well-being of your eyes yourself by, for example, always making sure that you drink enough water or unsweetened tea. A colorful, balanced menu with lots of fruit and vegetables also provides important nutrients for your eyes. In addition, omega-3 fatty acids - mainly contained in sea fish - also play an important role.

Ventilate living and office spaces regularly, but at the same time protect your eyes from drafts and avoid cigarette smoke. Wearing sunglasses offers protection from excessive exposure to light.

Regular cleaning and care of the eyelid margin is also helpful if the sebum glands on the eyelid margin tend to form incrustations. Special cleaning wipes and gels, but also creams such as B. ilast Care proven.

What does the addition: "prescribable product" mean?
VISMED® is approved as a medical product. As such, if your doctor determines a therapeutic need, the costs for VISMED® can be reimbursed by the statutory health insurance companies. The preparation can therefore be prescribed, but not subject to prescription.

VISMED® can be prescribed for
• various autoimmune diseases (Sjögren's syndrome with distinct functional disorders, epidermolysis bullosa or ocular pemphigoid)
• missing or damaged lacrimal gland, paralysis of the facial nerves (facial nerve palsy) or incomplete eyelid closure (lagophthalmus).

Why does VISMED® contain electrolytes?
Since the cornea does not contain any blood vessels, it has to be supplied from “outside”. The electrolytes ensure an optimal supply of the eye and counteract cell loss. VISMED® single-dose ampoules contain the electrolytes potassium, magnesium and calcium in a concentration corresponding to the tear film.

How do I have to store VISMED®?
Please always keep VISMED® out of the reach of children and store the ampoules between 2 ° C and 25 ° C. After the expiry date, the medical device may no longer be used.

What is the difference between VISMED® and VISMED® MULTI?
Basically, both products have the same composition - they contain 0.18% hyaluronic acid. The difference is: VISMED® is available as single-dose ampoules and VISMED® MULTI as dropper bottles. In this way, every user can decide which dosage form he would prefer to use.
