Story Behind the Art:
Balinese artisan Yuli was born near Celuk, renowned throughout the world for hand-crafted silver and gold. 'My mother is a silversmith,' she says. 'After finishing her housework, she spends the rest of the day working with silver. It was she who taught me the art. Silver work did not keep me from studying, in fact it allowed me to pay my tuition. In 1998, I married a man who is also a silversmith. We work together, complemented by our different backgrounds.'
