Composition of Xylometazoline Apteo Med 1mg / ml:
Active substance: xylometazoline hydrochloride (Xylometazolini hydrochloridum). 1 ml of the solution contains 1 mg of xylometazoline hydrochloride, which corresponds to 0.024-0.032 mg of xylometazoline hydrochloride / drop of solution (0.028 +/- 15%) and excipients: sodium chloride, benzalkonium chloride, solution, disodium phosphate dihydrate, potassium dihydrogen phosphate, purified water.
Action of Xylometazoline Apteo Med 1mg / ml:
Xylometazoline hydrochloride is a drug that constricts blood vessels, reduces nasal congestion and swelling, and reduces the amount of secretions. In people with nasal congestion, it helps to breathe freely through the nose. The preparation contributes to the easier outflow of secretions from the inflammation of the affected paranasal sinuses. Xylometazoline Apteo Med 1mg / ml is a topical nasal drop. The drug is indicated in the case of excessive nasal congestion during a cold, allergic rhinitis, hay fever, sinusitis. As an alternative, it can also be used in otitis media, as well as before nasal endoscopy. The healing effect begins within two minutes of application and lasts up to 10 hours.

The medicinal product Xylometazoline Apteo Med 1mg / ml indicated for use in the case of excessive nasal congestion in the course of colds, hay fever, sinusitis, allergic rhinitis. For use in adults and adolescents over 12 years of age.
Additional information:
Store the product out of reach of children, at room temperature. It is recommended to protect against moisture and light. Only one person should use one package. Before taking this medicine, consult your doctor in the following cases: high blood pressure, heart disease (e.g. long QT syndrome), hyperthyroidism, diabetes mellitus, prostatic hyperplasia, benign tumor of the adrenal gland that produces large amounts of adrenaline and norepinephrine (a tumor phaeochromocytoma), taking certain antidepressants (monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs)) or, if you have taken them in the last two weeks, hypersensitivity to substances that act like xylometazoline. In sensitive people, the drug may cause insomnia, dizziness, irregular heartbeat, high blood pressure or tremors. Do not use in the eyes. Do not use in the mouth. Use in children and adolescents: do not use under 12 years of age. Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding: do not use the drug during pregnancy. The drug may be used during breastfeeding only if recommended by a doctor. The drug contains benzalkonium chloride which may irritate the mucous membranes.
Contraindications:
Do not use in case of hypersensitivity to any component of the drug. Do not use after surgery performed through the nose (e.g. removal of the pituitary gland or surgery involving the exposure of the dura mater). Do not use in the case of narrow-angle glaucoma. Do not use when the nasal mucosa is very dry (drying rhinitis or atrophic rhinitis).
Side effects:
Some people may experience side effects while taking the drug. Stop taking this medicine and see a doctor immediately if you get the following symptoms: difficulty breathing or swallowing, swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat, itching with a red rash or blisters (rare). Common side effects: nasal dryness or irritation, nausea, headache, burning at the injection site. Uncommon side effects: epistaxis. Very rare side effects: allergic reaction (skin rash, itching), temporary visual disturbances, irregular or increased heartbeat.
Dosage of Xylometazoline Apteo Med 1mg / ml nasal drops:
Use the drug as prescribed by your doctor or according to the instructions on the leaflet. Use only for the nose. Adults and adolescents over 12 years of age: apply 2-4 drops in each nostril, use 3 times a day. Do not use more than 3 doses in each nostril a day. Do not use more than the recommended dose. It is recommended that you use the last dose just before going to bed. Do not use for more than 7 consecutive days (if the drug is used in higher doses than recommended or if the drug is used for more than 7 days, symptoms may worsen, recur or atrophy of the nasal mucosa). If symptoms persist after 7 days of treatment, please consult your doctor. How to use: clean your nose, tilt your head back, then drop the correct number of drops into each nostril. Leave the head tilted for a while after application. After use, wipe the tip of the dropper with a clean tissue. Close the bottle.
