Diarrhea can have many causes. It often occurs on vacation, because tap water contaminated with germs or food that has not been carefully washed or cooked through can irritate the intestines. Often there is an infection with bacteria or viruses such as the norovirus, but also stress and food intolerances, e.g. B. against gluten, come as a cause in question. Certain medications can also cause diarrhea, as it is called in medicine, as a side effect.

In the case of a gastrointestinal infection, diarrhea is a very sensible protective reaction of the body: In order for the pathogens to be excreted as quickly as possible with the bowel movements, more water and electrolytes flow into the intestine. This gives the stool a mushy to liquid consistency and there is an urge to defecate several times a day. Other unpleasant symptoms such as abdominal pain or flatulence often occur.

Vaprino ^® against acute diarrhea with 100 mg racecadotril per hard capsule alleviates the symptoms and rebalances the intestines by normalizing the flow of water and electrolytes. The urge to defecate is reduced, the stool becomes firmer and accompanying symptoms such as abdominal cramps and flatulence subside. Vaprino® ^_protects the intestines, as their natural movement is preserved; Side effects such as constipation do not occur.

Vaprino ^® is suitable for adults over the age of 18 and is available without a prescription. The effect is fast and reliable, in most cases noticeable after about 30 minutes.

The treatment with Vaprino ^® extends over a maximum of 3 days. On the first day, the maximum dosage is 4 capsules, divided into 2 capsules once and 1 capsule twice. On the two following days, the dose is reduced to 1 capsule 3 times a day. The capsules should be taken whole, with plenty of liquid and ideally before the main meals. It is important during treatment with Vaprino ^®drink plenty of water, ideally water or unsweetened tea. Adequate fluid intake ensures that the pathogens continue to be excreted if the diarrhea is the result of a gastrointestinal infection. Dosing can be reduced to 1 or 2 days if the stool is already hardening, which occurs in at least 80% of patients.

If the diarrhea lasts longer than 3 days or other symptoms such as fever or circulatory problems occur, treatment with Vaprino ^® should not be continued and the cause of the diarrhea should be clarified by a doctor.
