Nasal drops Xylometazolin VP is a medicinal product that clears nose. The active substance is xylometazoline hydrochloride. For use, among others
with obstruction of the nasal passages, which is caused by swelling of the nasal mucosa.
Composition of Xylometazolin VP nasal drops:
Active substance: Xylometazoline hydrochloride (Xylometazoline hydrochloridum). 1g of nasal drops contains 1mg of xylometazoline hydrochloride and excipients: disodium phosphate dodecahydrate, sodium dihydrogen phosphate dihydrate, sodium chloride, benzalkonium bromide (10% solution), purified water.
Action Xylometazolin VP nasal drops:
Medicinal product for clearing the nose in the form of nasal drops Xylometazolin VP. The medicine contains xylometazoline hydrochloride, which reduces swelling of the nasal mucosa and makes breathing easier. The drops contribute to the narrowing of the blood vessels of the nasal mucosa, which reduces its congestion. The drug reduces swelling and runny nose, clears the nasal passages and the tube that connects the nasal cavity to the sinuses. The preparation is intended for short-term use, it should not be used for more than five consecutive days.
Application:
The medicinal product Xylometazolin VP nasal drops in case of nasal obstruction caused by swelling of the nasal mucosa in the course of acute rhinitis (including influenza, cold); sinusitis; allergic rhinitis (hay fever).
Additional information:
The product should be stored out of reach of children at room temperature. It is recommended to protect against moisture and light. Using too high doses and using the drug for a long time can lead to impaired ability to drive and use machines (headache, nausea, palpitations, arrhythmias, insomnia). Once opened, use within 60 days. It is recommended to be used with caution in the case of diabetes mellitus, hyperthyroidism, heart disease (e.g. hypertension) and in the case of persistent symptoms. The possibility of using the drug in breast-feeding women should be discussed with your doctor. Do not use simultaneously with monoamine oxidase inhibitors and tricyclic antidepressants. The drug is not intended for chronic use.
Contraindications:
Do not use in case of hypersensitivity to any component of the drug to other decongestants of the nasal mucosa. Do not use in the presence of chronic atrophic rhinitis, narrow-angle glaucoma. Do not use below 12 years of age. It is not recommended to use during pregnancy unless your doctor determines that the use of this medicine is absolutely necessary.
Side effects:
Some people may experience side effects while taking this medicine. Not known: local burning (may occur after prolonged use of xylometazoline), irritability, dry nasal mucosa, secondary swelling of the nasal mucosa (drug-induced rhinitis), sneezing (these effects may occur after long-term use of xylometazoline), pain and dizziness , insomnia, palpitations, arrhythmias, nausea, blurred vision, increase in blood pressure.
Dosage of Xylometazolin VP nasal drops:
Use as directed by your doctor or as directed on the leaflet. The usual dose for adults and adolescents over 12 years of age: apply 2-3 drops to each nostril, apply three times a day. The drug begins action after 5-10 minutes from application, the effect lasts up to 10 hours. Do not use for more than 5 days.
