Dealing with homeopathic medicines
They are not only prescribed by homeopathic doctors and naturopaths, but are also available without a prescription and are increasingly used in self-treatment - i.e. in treatment by the patient himself. Anyone who does not have experience in homeopathic self-medication can refer to the following adhere to the dosage recommendation. However, it can happen that experienced therapists deviate from these guidelines in individual cases due to special circumstances.
Take it right
The dosage forms, dilutions, globules and tablets act primarily through the oral mucosa. That's why it's best to let them melt slowly on your tongue - half an hour before or after a meal. The dosage - i.e. the amount and frequency of intake - depends largely on the body's ability to react, the severity of the clinical picture and, above all, the potency of the drug.
In principle, the information in the leaflet applies; if this is not available, the following recommendation currently applies as a guideline:
Medicines of low potencies (up to D/C12) are primarily to be used in acute illnesses and are suitable for self-medication.
Dosage for adults:
In the case of acute symptoms, 5 drops or 5 globules or 1 tablet every hour until improvement occurs. This at most 6 times a day. Then 5 drops, 5 globules or 1 tablet 3 times a day.
It is important to reduce the frequency of intake when the improvement occurs!
With medium potencies, 5 drops, 5 globules or 1 tablet are taken 1-2 times a day. In chronic diseases 5 drops or 5 globules or 1 tablet 1-3 times a day.
Drugs of high potency (from D/C30) are usually indicated for chronic diseases and belong in the hands of a therapist.
Dosage for adults:
5 drops or 5 globules or 1 tablet.
The income is one-time. It can be repeated at long intervals - after weeks or months. Dose for children: Fractions of the adult
doses mentioned above apply to children:
- Babies in the 1st year of life receive a third,
- Small children up to the age of 6 about half,
- Children between 6 and 12 years about two thirds.
Administering homeopathic medicines to children is not difficult. Globules in particular are very well suited, especially since they taste pleasantly sweet due to the cane sugar they contain.
In general, the intake of homeopathic medicines should be reduced as soon as the condition improves. After recovery, the drug should be discontinued.
The initial reaction:
In rare cases, after taking a homeopathic medicine, a temporary initial reaction can occur (also known as "initial aggravation", since the symptoms of the disease then temporarily become more severe.). This is generally harmless and can be taken as a sign that the right drug has been chosen. However, if such an initial reaction persists for a long time, you should definitely consult your doctor or naturopath.
The carriers:
The carriers of our homeopathic medicines are of natural origin:
- alcohol-water mixtures in dilutions,
- cane sugar (sucrose) in globules,
- Milk sugar (lactose) in tablets.
All homeopathic medicines must be stored dry and should be protected from excessive heat and light.
