. It's something we don't talk about! Almost every man is confronted with the fact that the prostate (prostate gland), which is located below the bladder, grows with age and constricts the urethra. This phenomenon, also known as benign prostatic hyperplasia (Latin: benign prostatic hyperplasia, BHP), occurs in 50% of all men between the ages of 50 and 60. A change in the hormonal balance that comes with age is thought to be the cause of this growth. This enlargement of the prostate initially causes minor discomfort when urinating, but this discomfort worsens if left untreated. A weakening urine stream, delayed bladder emptying and frequent urination are the first signs of enlargement. This can be particularly disturbing at night, when the frequent urge to urinate makes it impossible to sleep through the night. Regular urological examinations help detect the condition early and rule out malignant prostate disease. For symptoms in the early stages, medication can provide significant relief.
Herbal medicines are particularly suitable for this early stage, as they can alleviate symptoms while being virtually free of side effects. For many years, one herbal active ingredient in particular has proven effective for gentle therapy. The medicine Harzol® contains phytosterol (ß-sitosterone), a plant extract originating from the South African medicinal plant Hypoxis rooperi and obtained from the wood of Pinus and Picea species (pines and spruces). Clinical studies in a large patient population demonstrated the superiority of Harzol® over placebo in the initial symptoms (stages I and II) of an enlarged prostate. The preparation can be taken over a longer period of time and relieves the typical symptoms after a short time. Harzol® is manufactured in Germany. Warnings:
