AEROBIKA OPEP respiratory therapy device for loosening mucus

The Aerobika OPEP respiratory therapy device from MPV Medical uses vibrations to quickly and effectively loosen thick mucus from the bronchial lining. The physical percussion massage opens the small bronchi, making coughing easier. Improved breathing not only increases quality of life but also reduces the need for medication.

Indication and scope of application

Oscillating positive expiratory pressure (OPEP) systems, such as the Aerobika OPEP respiratory therapy device, generate pressure oscillations by increasing expiratory resistance. These oscillations are transmitted to the airways, creating a massage effect. The mucous membranes are massaged by the continuous expansion and contraction of the airways, loosening and mobilizing thick mucus. The loosened mucus is then transported upwards to be coughed up. The use of this respiratory therapy system is particularly recommended for the following respiratory conditions:

  • Cystic fibrosis
  • Bronchiectasis
  • COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease)

The use of the Aerobika OPEP respiratory therapy device improves lung hygiene and thus ensures effective protection against infections. Furthermore, gas transport can be optimized even in hard-to-reach lung areas, and lung hyperinflation can be reduced. In particular, a study showed a significant improvement in breathing difficulties after four weeks in COPD patients.

Type of application

Position the mouthpiece in a way that is comfortable for you (horizontal or vertical). During exhalation, the device produces a pulsating resistance that keeps your airways open. You can adjust the resistance to your preferred level using the multi-stage setting. Use the "+" button to increase the frequency (faster oscillation) and the "-" button to decrease it (slower oscillation). The slower frequency is particularly suitable for patients with weakened lungs. If you have any questions, please consult your doctor (especially your pulmonologist) or refer to the enclosed instructions for use.

Patient information

The standardized connection for a nebulizer, steam inhaler, atomizer, or inhalation device (e.g., MicroDrop Pro2, MicroDrop Calimero2) allows for combination with inhalation therapy. This enables continuous therapy, in which inhalation occurs during inhalation and mucus is loosened by vibrations during exhalation. You do not need to remove the device from your mouth. The combination of both therapies has been proven to improve patient compliance (willingness to actively participate) and shorten the overall treatment time. Your benefits at a glance:

  • clinically tested
  • greater effect with less time required for the daily therapy session
  • with a low-resistance valve for continuous inhalation and exhalation
  • Easy and comfortable handling thanks to ergonomic design
  • Position-independent deployment
  • easy disassembly and assembly of the device
  • quiet and portable device
