AMBROXOL 75 mg Indication / application

  • The preparation is a drug for dissolving mucus in respiratory diseases with thick mucus (mucolytic). The drug is used for the expectorant treatment of acute and chronic diseases of the bronchi and lungs with thick mucus.

AMBROXOL 75 mg dosage

  • Always take the medicine exactly as directed. Please ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
  • Unless otherwise prescribed by your doctor, the usual dose is
    • Adults and adolescents from 12 years
      • generally take 1 capsule daily (equivalent to 75 mg ambroxol hydrochloride / day).
  • A notice:
    • If you have impaired kidney function or severe liver disease, you must take the medicine longer or reduce the dose.

 

  • Duration of application
    • Do not take the medicine for more than 4-5 days without medical advice. If after this time there is no improvement or your clinical picture worsens, you should consult a doctor.
  • Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have the impression that the effect of the drug is too strong or too weak.

 

  • If you take more medicine than you should
    • Serious symptoms of intoxication have not been observed in the event of an overdose of Ambroxol. Brief restlessness and diarrhea have been reported. Accidental or intentional extreme overdose can result in increased saliva secretion, gagging, vomiting and a drop in blood pressure.
    • If you have taken too much of the medicine, please contact a doctor. Acute measures, such as inducing vomiting and gastric lavage, are not generally indicated and should only be considered in the case of extreme overdose. Treatment is recommended in accordance with the symptoms of the overdose.

 

  • If you forget to take the medicine
    • Do not take a double dose. If you have forgotten to take the product or have taken too little, please continue taking the product the next time as described in the dosage instructions.

 

  • If you have any further questions on the use of the medicinal product, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

AMBROXOL 75 mg way

  • Take the capsule preferably after a meal with sufficient liquid (e.g. 1 glass of water).
  • A notice:
    • The expectorant effect of the drug is enhanced by hydration.

AMBROXOL 75 mg Side effects

  • Like all medicines, the preparation can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
  • When evaluating side effects, the following frequencies are used as a basis:
    • very common: more than 1 in 10 people
    • common: less than 1 in 10, but more than 1 in 100 patients
    • uncommon: less than 1 in 100 but more than 1 in 1,000 patients
    • rare: less than 1 in 1,000 but more than 1 in 10,000 patients
    • very rare: less than 1 in 10,000 patients, including isolated cases
    • not known: frequency cannot be estimated from the available data
  • Occasionally:
    • Nausea, abdominal pain, vomiting
  • Rarely:
    • Hypersensitivity reactions, skin rash, hives, shortness of breath, fever
  • Not known:
    • Allergic reactions including anaphylactic shock, angioedema (rapidly developing swelling of the skin, subcutaneous tissue, the mucous membrane or the tissue under the mucous membrane) and itching. Severe skin reactions (including erythema multiforme, Stevens-Johnson syndrome / toxic epidermal necrolysis and acute generalized exanthematic pustulosis)
  • At the first signs of a hypersensitivity reaction, the drug should not be taken again. Inform your doctor so that he can decide on the severity and any further measures that may be required.
  • If you get any side effects, talk to your doctor or pharmacist. This also applies to side effects that are not specified.

AMBROXOL 75 mg Interactions

  • Please inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking / using or have recently taken / used any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription.
  • If you take the medicine in combination with cough suppressants (antitussives), the liquefied mucus may no longer be coughed up sufficiently. Therefore, it is essential to ask your doctor before a combined application.

AMBROXOL 75 mg Contraindications

  • You should not take the medicine
    • if you are hypersensitive (allergic) to ambroxol or any of the other ingredients of the preparation.

AMBROXOL 75 mg pregnancy and breast feeding period

  • So far there is insufficient experience with humans. You should take the medicine during pregnancy, especially during the first trimester, and during breastfeeding only as directed by your doctor and after he has carefully weighed the benefits and risks.

AMBROXOL 75 mg Patient information

  • Take special care when taking the drug
    • if you have impaired kidney function or severe liver disease. You may then only take the preparation at longer intervals or in a reduced dose.
    • if you have a rare disease of the bronchi with excessive accumulation of secretions (e.g. malignant ciliary syndrome). Because of possible accumulation of secretions, you should only take the medicine after consulting your doctor.
    • There have been reports of severe skin reactions with the use of ambroxol.
    • If you develop a rash (including damage to the lining of the mouth, throat, nose, eyes and genital area), please stop using the medicine and seek medical advice immediately.
  • children
    • Due to the high content of active ingredients, the drug is not suitable for children under 12 years of age. Medicines are available for this in the form of tablets with a lower active ingredient content.
