Caya®Gel is a contraceptive gel for use with the "diaphragm" and "cervical cap" barrier contraceptives. Caya®Gel increases the safety of these contraceptive methods. Use without a contraceptive gel has been shown to be less safe.

Mode of action
Caya®Gel forms an additional physical barrier in front of the cervix by means of the cellulose it contains (gelling agent) and lowers the pH value of the vaginal fluid. The increased acidity and viscosity of the gel have an anti-motility effect on spermatozoa.
Application
Before inserting into the vagina, about a teaspoon (approx. 4ml) of Caya®Gel is placed in the membrane of the diaphragm or the cervical cap. The respective instructions for use should be observed.
The vaginal applicator is used optionally if additional gel is to be applied in front of the diaphragm that is already in place when intercourse is resumed. The vaginal applicator can be used several times, but should be cleaned with warm water after each use.
Note
Caya®Gel offers no protection against sexually transmitted diseases. Caya®Gel alone, used without a barrier contraceptive, is not a reliable contraceptive method. Caya®Gel is water-soluble and compatible with condoms made of natural rubber or polyurethane.
