Areas of application
For the symptomatic treatment of diarrhea in adults, infants and children only on medical advice.
To prevent absorption into the body in cases of oral poisoning with food, heavy metals and drugs; to accelerate the elimination of poisoning with substances that can pass from the intestine into the liver (e.g. carbamazepine, phenobarbital, phenylbutazone, theophylline).

Contraindications
Feverish diarrhea. In the case of poisoning with caustic substances (strong acids and alkalis), medicinal charcoal should not be taken, as this makes diagnostic measures such as esophagoscopy and gastroscopy more difficult.

Side effects
After the administration of very high doses, constipation can occur.
