Thyme: traditionally proven for respiratory diseases
Thyme is one of the traditionally used medicinal herbs that have several effects at the same time. It is mainly used for colds with coughs or bronchitis. The essential oils of thyme have an expectorant and expectorant effect. They facilitate the necessary expectoration and have a relaxing effect on the bronchi.

Although thyme has been used to treat respiratory diseases since the Middle Ages, its diverse effects and areas of application still stimulate research today.

Cough – exhausting but necessary
As distressing as the symptom of a cough is, it is primarily a natural protective function of the body to expel inhaled foreign substances from the lungs. But not only foreign bodies can irritate the cough receptors: Swelling of the mucous membranes caused by inflammation or thick mucus, as often occurs with a cold, can also activate them.

Especially in the context of a cold, coughing is a side effect: the cold pathogen leads to a runny nose and sore throat in the upper respiratory tract and then spreads to the lower respiratory tract. If it reaches the bronchi, i.e. the branches through which the respiratory air is transported to the alveoli, the immune system defends itself. The result: the mucous membranes become inflamed and you cough.

Bronchicum ® Thyme Cough Syrup loosens the mucus and so calms the irritated bronchi.
