What are the advantages of taking metformin?

However, metformin improves aging-related diseases, such as diabetes, CVD, and cognitive disorders, leading to an extended lifespan in these patients. In T2D patients, metformin decreased the risk of diabetes-related death by 42% (106).

Metformin is a prescription medication that can help control blood sugar levels. It's commonly used to treat type 2 diabetes, but it can also be used to treat other conditions.
Benefits of metformin
Blood sugar control: Metformin helps the body use insulin more effectively, which lowers blood sugar levels.
Cardiovascular benefits: Metformin can reduce the risk of death from cardiovascular disease.
Weight loss: Metformin can help people with diabetes lose weight.
Prediabetes prevention: Metformin can delay or prevent the onset of type 2 diabetes in people with prediabetes.
Gestational diabetes management: Metformin can help control blood sugar levels during pregnancy, which can reduce the risk of complications for both the mother and baby.
Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) management: Metformin can help with menstrual regulation, fertility, and elevated blood sugar in women with PCOS.
Cognitive dysfunction: Metformin can improve cognitive dysfunction in patients with type 2 diabetes.
Mortality reduction: Metformin has been associated with reduced mortality in people with diabetes and COVID-19.
