Due to the high content of hyaluronic acid, the highly viscous drops adhere particularly well to the surface of the eye. Persistent and severe symptoms such as itching, foreign body sensation, reddened and burning eyes are relieved and the eyes are permanently protected from irritation. In addition, HYLO GEL ® eye drops are a good choice to support the healing process of the eyes after an operation. The practical COMOD ® system guarantees precise dosing, a high yield of at least 300 drops and a long shelf life of 6 months. HYLO GEL®Eye drops are free of preservatives and phosphates and are therefore very well tolerated. HYLO GEL ® lubricating eye drops do not require a prescription, but can be prescribed. They can be prescribed by the doctor for certain indications (according to Annex V of the Medicines Directive).
Long-lasting moisturizing of the eyes with highly concentrated hyaluronic acid
HYLO GEL ® eye drops contain hyaluronic acid, a substance that occurs naturally in some parts of the body and also in the eye. Due to the high content of 0.2% hyaluronic acid, HYLO GEL ®highly viscous and forms a stable protective film on the irritated surface of the eye. The conjunctiva and calluses are intensively and sustainably moisturized. Despite the gel-like consistency, vision is not impaired. HYLO GEL ® eye drops can also be used with hard and soft contact lenses.

DRY EYES
Dry eyes, the so-called sicca syndrome, are among the most common eye diseases. According to information from the professional association of ophthalmologists, every fifth adult in Germany is affected, and the trend is rising. One of the main causes is the increasing use of digital media on smartphones and tablets as well as intensive screen work in professional life. In addition, environmental influences such as drafts, air conditioning and fine dust pollution as well as certain diseases, hormonal changes and age-related processes can cause various symptoms of dry eyes.
EYE OPERATIONS
Surgery can cause severe irritation and impair the tear fluid supply to the eye. After an eye operation, however, a stable tear film is particularly important, since wounds can only heal well in a sufficiently moist environment. HYLO GEL ® with highly concentrated and highly viscous hyaluronic acid has proven itself for postoperative care due to the intensive, strong moisturizing and long-lasting adhesion to the surface of the eye. Due to the fact that they are free of preservatives and phosphates, they can be used safely after operations. The eye drops are also recommended for patients who are already suffering from dry eyes before the operation.
ASSUMPTION OF COSTS BY HEALTH INSURANCE
HYLO GEL ®is the first prescribable medical product for eye lubrication in Germany. If therapy is necessary, the costs can be reimbursed by the statutory health insurance companies in certain cases. The lubricating eye drops can be prescribed by the doctor in accordance with Appendix V of the Medicines Directive in the event of a lack of or damage to the lacrimal gland, various autoimmune diseases, paralysis of the facial nerves (facial paralysis) and incomplete lid closure (lagophthalmos).
FREQUENT QUESTIONS & ANSWERS:
How often should I use HYLO GEL ® eye drops per day?
HYLO GEL®Eye drops provide intensive and long-lasting moisturizing for severe and chronic forms of dry eyes. Dose the eye drops individually according to your condition or the recommendations of your ophthalmologist. In general, 1 drop of HYLO GEL ® is instilled into the conjunctival sac of each eye 3 times a day. If the symptoms are more severe, the eye drops can be used more often during the day. If you use HYLO GEL ® in addition to another drug treatment with eye drops, please keep an interval of at least 30 minutes between applications. In this case, HYLO GEL ® should be administered last. If you also use an eye ointment, wipe it off after using HYLO GEL ®into the conjunctival sac.
What do I have to consider when using HYLO GEL ® with contact lenses?
HYLO GEL ® is also compatible with contact lenses. After inserting the visual aids, it is advisable to wait about 30 minutes before applying the moisturizing eye drops. In this way, possible intolerance reactions due to interactions between contact lens care products and HYLO GEL ® can be avoided. Due to the gel-like consistency of the eye drops, short-term streaks may form immediately after application. This generally disappears again after a few blinks.
How can I ensure that my eyes are sufficiently moistened overnight?
HYLO GEL® with high-viscosity hyaluronic acid ensures particularly good adhesion to the surface of the eye and a long-lasting moisturizing effect well into the night. If you suffer from severe symptoms of dry eyes, especially at night, the use of the eye drops can be supplemented with a moisturizing eye ointment such as HYLO NIGHT ® overnight . The ointment with vitamin A spreads well on the surface of the eye and improves the tear film.
What are the advantages of eye drops without preservatives?
Preservatives are used in many preparations to prevent pathogenic germs from getting into the eyes. If eye drops cannot be kept sterile, bacteria and fungi can easily settle, which can get into the eye during use and cause infections. However, the preservatives often cannot offer complete protection against germs and can also cause intolerance reactions. As with all other eye drops in the HYLO ® product family, HYLO GEL ® deliberately avoids the use of preservatives. This is made possible by the unique COMOD ®System that keeps the liquid sterile and hermetically sealed. The eye drops have a shelf life of 6 months after opening, even without preservatives. Not using preservatives pays off in two ways: HYLO ® eye drops are particularly well tolerated. In addition, only medical products that are preservative-free are suitable for postoperative care, as otherwise good wound healing is delayed.
