  • Folik is used in the prevention of neural tube birth defects in the offspring during the period before pregnancy and in the first trimester of pregnancy.

Composition:
1 tablet. contains 400 micrograms of folic acid.

Excipients:microcrystalline cellulose, corn starch, magnesium stearate, calcium phosphate dibasic anhydrous, colloidal anhydrous silica, Maracuja flavor.

Action: Folic acid belongs to the group of vitamin B. It is metabolized in the body to the active form - tetrahydrofolic acid, which participates in many biochemical reactions. Participates, among others, in the synthesis of purine and pyrimidine synthesis of DNA and amino acid metabolism. Also plays an important role in the tissues, which are undergoing several cell divisions, especially in the hematopoietic system, and epithelium of gastrointestinal fetal tissues. Its deficiency leads to neural tube birth defects (such as spina bifida). Taking folic acid during the period before pregnancy and in the initial period reduces the incidence of the offspring of neural tube defects.

Indications: Prevention of birth defects neural tube defects in the offspring during the period before pregnancy and in the first trimester of pregnancy.

Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to folic acid .

undesirable effects: Very rarely allergic reactions (skin rash, redness of the skin, bronchospasm, fever).

Interactions: High doses of folic acid may reduce the effects of some anti-epileptic drugs, eg. phenytoin.

dosage: Women of childbearing potential oral 400 mg once a day at least one month prior to pregnancy and during the first trimester.
