These organic frankincense extract capsules are extracted from the resin of the Indian frankincense tree (Boswellia Serrata) . The raw materials carefully selected by dreikraut are processed in Germany. Each capsule contains 400 mg of high-quality frankincense extract with 65% boswellic acids and is free from gluten, lactose, fructose or animal ingredients. Contains no allergens.

When you hear frankincense, you immediately smell the spicy scents that are known in Germany mainly from church. The fragrant smoke is made from the resin of the Boswellia trees , which are native to East Africa, the Arabian Peninsula and India. By scratching the bark, the valuable substance comes out, which can be milky white to amber yellow or even reddish, depending on the harvest time. For our extract, we use the resin of the Indian Salai tree (Boswellia serrata), which is also listed in the European Pharmacopoeia (Ph. Eur.).

How frankincense extract is produced

Organic frankincense is a rarity because wild collection requires special areas that are both particularly natural and ensure sustainable harvesting. Frankincense trees have a papery, leafy bark and a soft bark. If you scratch them, the valuable resin comes out.

The rubbery granules obtained in this way are dried and the superfluous components are removed. Frankincense consists mainly of essential oils, mucilage, proteins and resin acids. However, it is not the fragrant essential oils that are important for the quality of the extract , but the resin acids , which are enriched many times over, including the boswellic acids AKBA (3-O-acetyl-11-keto-β-boswellic acid) and KBA (11-keto-β-boswellic acid). For our preparation, these are enriched to 65%. The resulting concentrate is then encapsulated. Both the selection of raw materials and the production comply with the strict guidelines of the EU organic regulation and are constantly tested and monitored.

Use of frankincense capsules

Frankincense is often used in religious customs and in Ayurvedic medicine. Western medicine is now also discovering the aromatic gum resin for itself. Its pharmacological properties are being researched more and more frequently and thoroughly. According to a study by the University of Jena, boswellic acids reduce inflammatory reactions. ¹ How does this work? The painful inflammation is caused, among other things, by an increased synthesis of the tissue hormone prostaglandin E2. Boswellic acids inhibit the enzyme responsible for this process.

Frankincense - A long history

Frankincense has a long and proud history. It is no coincidence that it is mentioned in the Bible as a gift from the Three Wise Men. Even 5,000 years ago, the resin was a sought-after and extremely valuable commodity in the Nile Valley and the Orient. The Pharaohs - the god-kings of Egypt - used frankincense as a burial offering.

Roman emperors burned incense when they entered cities to protect themselves from the smells of sewers. Religious cultures all over the world still use the resin as a fragrance today. Its use as a natural remedy has also been widespread for thousands of years, for example in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM).

Frankincense tablets or capsules?

Our frankincense extract is particularly easy to take in the form of capsules. Thanks to their moderate size and texture, these are easy to swallow - and the frankincense extract can remain without additives. In contrast to frankincense tablets, which usually contain additives so that they can be pressed into shape. Our vegan capsule shell is made of pure, neutral plant pulp, which dissolves easily in the body but is not metabolized.

Recommended dosage: 2 x 2 capsules daily, unchewed with liquid at meals.

Nutrients (based on 4 capsules): 1600 mg organic frankincense extract (of which 1040 mg boswellic acids).
