The frankincense extract in GELENCIUM® ^Frankincense Plus is obtained from the resin of the Indian frankincense tree (Boswellia serrata). Besides essential oils and polysaccharides, the valuable resin is primarily prized for its various boswellic acids. These have proven effective due to their anti-inflammatory properties and are rightly the focus of numerous medical publications. Of particular importance is the so-called 3-acetyl-11-keto-β-boswellic acid (AKBA). GELENCIUM® ^Frankincense Plus therefore uses a frankincense extract that is extra-high-dose, containing a total of 85% boswellic acids and 20% AKBA. This means the AKBA content is 10 times higher than in ordinary frankincense extracts.
