Feel new strength. At every moment. Mistletoe therapy can support your oncological treatment. Improve your quality of life!

You can do more for yourself: When is mistletoe therapy suitable?

Mistletoe therapy has been proven to support your body in the treatment of cancer and alleviates the side effects of classic cancer therapy:
• reduces persistent exhaustion (fatigue)
• is suitable for strengthening the immune system
• regulates sleep and appetite
• normalizes the sensation of warmth

Every cancer disease is different and those affected experience the situation very individually. In order for the treatment to go well, it plays an important role that you feel recognized as a human being. Around 88 percent of cancer patients in Germany would like additional cancer treatment to specifically support their body. Up to 77 percent choose mistletoe therapy. 1

As part of integrative oncology (combination of conventional medicine and complementary medicine, complementary medicine) you can do more for yourself with the healing effects of mistletoe! Wherever doctors offer integrative oncology, they follow the latest oncological guidelines, including all current methods. In addition, they offer proven complementary treatments. Mistletoe therapy is often used to help patients cope with their tumor treatment better.

Feel new strength. At every moment. – The healing power of mistletoe
The effect of mistletoe therapy is based on the special properties of the medicinal plant from which the medicines are obtained – white-berry mistletoe:
• complex spectrum of effects with over 1,000 ingredients
• actively supports your body
• helps you to experience more strength and quality of life again

This makes the use of mistletoe the most common accompanying therapy for cancer. Mistletoe therapy can be carried out at any time during cancer. 2 You can therefore start using it before, during and after standard therapy.

Over 150 clinical studies confirm the good tolerability of mistletoe therapy and its positive effect on the quality of life of cancer patients. 3

Feel new strength. At every moment. – The healing power of mistletoe
Mistletoe therapy can reduce the side effects of conventional cancer therapies, help strengthen the immune system and increase quality of life. 2Mistletoe therapy usually goes like this:

The first step
Mistletoe therapy is tailored to your individual needs and requires medical supervision. Your doctor
• checks to what extent mistletoe therapy is an option for you,
• selects the right type of mistletoe for your individual situation and type of tumor, and
• explains how to use it.

You can then carry out the therapy yourself at home.

The first application
As part of mistletoe therapy, you inject the mistletoe extract under your skin (subcutaneously). A fold of skin on the stomach or thigh is best. The injection is usually given 3 times per week.

Duration of mistletoe therapy
Long-term use over several months is recommended so that mistletoe therapy has lasting effects. After the adjustment period, there are breaks of several weeks between injection times during which those affected do not inject. The therapy is well tolerated and easy to use.

Side effects of the therapy: This is how the body reacts to mistletoe.
The body often shows the following reactions to mistletoe therapy:
• reddened injection site (sometimes with swelling or itching)
• slight increase in body temperature (0.5 to 1 degree Celsius)

The body's signs (local reactions) are harmless and even desirable. They show the activity of the immune system, it is working. If you get a fever over 38 degrees Celsius or notice severe redness at the injection site that is more than 5 centimeters in diameter, you should not inject the next dose of mistletoe. If you have allergic reactions such as hives, facial swelling or shortness of breath, contact your doctor.

Hints
If patients are terminally ill with cancer (palliative situation), statutory health insurance companies cover the costs of mistletoe therapy. In addition, reimbursement of costs is possible if the therapy is used to mitigate severe side effects of chemotherapy (such as cancer-related fatigue syndrome). As a prerequisite for this, patients need a doctor's prescription with a health insurance prescription.
