Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) antigen test

The Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) antigen test is intended for medical laypersons as a self-test at home or at work. The test is used for rapid examination of suspected cases of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus using an anterior nasal swab.

A positive test result indicates that the sample contains a coronavirus antigen. Please note that a negative test result does not rule out the possibility of infection.

Which variants of the corona virus can the test detect?

This rapid corona test shows both the variants of previous years, such as B. Delta, as well as the current Omikron variant. With a sensitivity of over 95%, it reliably and accurately determines an infection. The specificity of this test is around 99%. This value means the proportion of people who tested negative, i.e. healthy, who received a correct result.

Wash or disinfect your hands thoroughly before you start the test and when you have finished the test.

1. Taking your sample

Take the swab out of the packaging without touching the padding and gently insert it, cotton swab first, 1.5 cm into one nostril until you feel a slight resistance.

Do not insert the swab any further if you feel strong resistance or pain. Using moderate pressure, move the swab in a circular motion along the inner nasal wall four to six times for at least 15 seconds to collect as much cells and mucus as possible.

Repeat the sampling with the same swab in the other nostril.

2. Preparation of the sample for testing

Open the sampling tube at the large opening and insert the used swab with the collected sample into the tube. The sample must be soaked in the sample extraction buffer liquid (supplied liquid). The soaking time of the swab is at least 15 seconds.

The swab has to be turned several times and the swab head pressed three times. The sampling tube is squeezed while the swab is removed. The collection tube is then sealed with the cap.

Place the used swab in the provided plastic bag for contaminated waste.

3. Examination of the sample

Open the silver aluminum pouch and place the test cassette on an even surface. If the test cassettes have not been stored at room temperature (between 10 and 30 ℃), they should be stored at room temperature for 15 to 30 minutes. After opening the foil pouch, the test should be used within 30 minutes (at temperature between 10 and 30℃ and humidity ≤70%).

Then open the sampling tube at the small front screw connection and put exactly 4 drops of your treated sample into the sample hole (S) of the test cassette.

The result can be seen after about 15 minutes after applying the drops at room temperature (10 to 30 °C). After 30 minutes, no valid result is visible anymore.

4. Evaluation of the result

You can interpret the results of your rapid corona test as follows:

Positive:
If the test shows two color bands (control area C and detection line T), the test result is positive. This means that there is currently a suspicion of a COVID-19 infection. Immediately self-isolate in accordance with
local guidelines and contact your GP or local health department by phone immediately.

Your test result will be checked by a PCR confirmation test and the next steps will be explained to you.

Negative:
If only one horizontal colored line is visible in the control area (C), this may mean that your test is negative or that the viral load is too low for the test to detect.

If you are experiencing symptoms such as a headache, migraine, fever, loss of smell or taste, contact your nearest medical facility using the rules of your local government. In addition, you can repeat the test with a new test kit.

In case of suspicion, repeat the test after 1-2 days, since the coronavirus cannot be precisely detected in all phases of an infection.

Invalid:
The test result is invalid if no line appears in the control area C. This can be caused by a possibly faulty test execution.

Please repeat the test with a new test kit according to the instructions for use. For additional invalid test results, contact your doctor or a COVID-19 testing center.

5. Disposal of the test, covid 19 test

After the test, place all the components of your used rapid corona test in the enclosed plastic bag for contaminated waste and dispose of this bag with the residual waste. Your test is not reusable.
