• It is used in proven iron deficiency states - especially iron deficiency anemia - caused by
  • Increased iron loss (e.g. in the case of increased menstrual bleeding; after operations, blood donations; in the case of bleeding as a result of diseases of the digestive tract)
  • Reduced iron absorption (e.g. after removal of sections of the stomach and intestines)
  • increased iron requirement (e.g. during pregnancy).

• The recommended dose is:
  • Adults: Adults take 1 effervescent tablet, in the case of severe anemia 2 to 3 effervescent tablets daily.
  • Children and young people:
    • For children, the daily dose is 3 - 5 mg Fe(II) ions/kg body weight.
    • Children from 16 kg body weight and adolescents take 1 effervescent tablet daily (maximum 5 mg iron ions per kg body weight per day).
    • Medicines with a lower strength are available for children weighing less than 16 kg.

• duration of use
  • The doctor decides on the duration of the application. In principle, iron therapy should be carried out over a longer period of time. In order to achieve therapeutic success in iron deficiency anemia, it must be used over a period of at least 8 weeks.
  • Long-term intake of high doses of iron, insofar as they are not required for the individual iron requirement, can lead to iron overload in the body.

• If you take more than you should
  • In such cases, please contact your doctor immediately. In children in particular, the dosage prescribed by the doctor must not be exceeded because of the risk of possible iron poisoning.

• If you forget to take a dose
  • Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose.
  • If you interrupt the treatment or completely forget to take several doses, the next time you take the same amount of tablets as prescribed, but please talk to your doctor to what extent you need to increase the dosage or extend the duration of treatment.
