Ketozolin® 2% Shampoo for Head & Body
Against seborrheic dermatitis and bran fungus

Seborrheic dermatitis
What is it?

Seborrheic dermatitis is a widespread inflammatory skin disease that presents with scaling, itching and redness and is usually chronic.

The skin changes typically occur in areas where there are a particularly large number of sebaceous glands - for example on the scalp, face, chest or upper back.

Chronic but treatable: Preventative treatment with Ketozolin® 2% Shampoo can prevent the occurrence of acute attacks of seborrheic dermatitis.

Causes & influencing factors :

The yeast Malassezia furfur:
It is one of the naturally occurring skin germs. This germ multiplies particularly strongly in people with a corresponding predisposition and oily skin. As a result, the skin reacts with a pronounced inflammatory reaction, which can cause redness with itching and flaking.

Hyperfunction of the sebaceous glands:
The skin produces its own lubricant and lubricant in the sebaceous glands - keeping the skin soft and supple and the hair shiny and healthy.

However, if too much sebum is produced, the skin and hair become covered with a pronounced film of grease, so that dandruff accumulates more and becomes clearly visible. However, a connection with seborrheic dermatitis is currently only suspected and has not yet been scientifically proven.

Stress and climatic factors:
Those affected who suffer chronically from seborrheic dermatitis due to their genetic predisposition often find that the disease worsens with stress. Climatic factors also influence the disease.
Those affected suffer more from dandruff in winter than in summer. The sea climate and sunlight have a positive effect on the course of the disease.

Bran fungus
What is it?

Bran fungus (other name: Pityriasis versicolor) is a non-contagious fungal disease of the skin. The pathogen that causes bran fungus can be found on almost all healthy skin - but in some people the yeast multiplies excessively and becomes a disease.

Bran fungus manifests itself in small, lentil to nickel-sized, scaly, yellowish to brownish spots that appear primarily on the neck, chest and back, but also in places where skin often lies on skin, such as under the armpits or in the groin area.

Apart from the formation of spots, a slight flaking and sometimes a bit of itching, there are no other symptoms of bran fungus.

Causes & influencing factors :

Oily skin creams:
A possible trigger can be the use of oily skin creams, which promote the proliferation of the yeast Malassezia furfur.

Medications or metabolic diseases:
In addition, taking certain medications can cause metabolic diseases such as: B. Diabetes mellitus or a weakened immune system can promote bran fungus.

Climatic factors:
The biggest risk factor in relation to bran fungus, however, is a warm, humid climate combined with heavy sweating, as this represents an ideal basis for the yeast fungi to multiply.
