do Mucosan® lozenges work?
Ectoin® forms a natural protective layer on the mucous membranes in the mouth and throat, providing a triple effect: 1. Hydrating – moisturizes dry and irritated mucous membranes 2. Regenerating – supports their regeneration 3. Anti-inflammatory – helps reduce inflammation. Directions & Dosage: Children 6 years and older, adolescents, and adults: Dissolve one lozenge slowly in the mouth every 3 hours or as often as needed. Do not use more than 10 lozenges per day. Why Mucosan® Lozenges ? Mucosan® Lozenges contain the natural, cell-protecting molecule Ectoin® .
These lozenges are sugar-free and have a red fruit flavor, making them a well-tolerated option for the whole family from age 6 and up. They are especially convenient for on the go or as a quick snack and can also be taken in combination with Mucosilent® for dry coughs – for example, during the day when the urge to cough recurs.
How does a dry cough develop?
A cough associated with a cold typically progresses through several phases. It often begins with a dry, irritating cough – an unproductive cough without phlegm. This occurs when the mucous membranes of the airways are irritated or inflamed as a result of an infection. This stimulates cough receptors, even though there is no mucus to cough up.
As the cold progresses, the cough can become productive, meaning that mucus is loosened and coughed up. In the final phase, the cough often becomes dry again – and is particularly persistent. This repeated irritation can further irritate the mucous membranes and leads to a persistent, often painful, urge to cough, which can occur both during the day and at night.
