How does the active ingredient in the medication work?
The ingredients are derived from the milk thistle plant and act as a natural mixture. About the plant itself:
- Appearance: A thistle growing up to 2 meters tall with large, dark green and white marbled leaves and striking purple flowers
- Habitat: Europe, primarily sunny, rather barren locations in the Mediterranean region
- Main active ingredients: Silymarin, which is a mixture of various active substances (silibinin, silychristin, silydanin)
- Plant parts used and preparations: Extracts and tinctures from the herb and fruit.
Milk thistle fruit, in particular, has pronounced liver-protective properties. Its constituents protect the liver from numerous toxins, such as alcohol. At the same time, they also neutralize harmful substances and promote the formation of new liver cells. Furthermore, milk thistle reduces the production of inflammatory substances in the body.
