Loperamide acute Aristo ® 2 mg tablets
Active substance: loperamide hydrochloride.
Areas of application: For the symptomatic treatment of acute diarrhea for adults and children over 12 years of age, provided no causal therapy is available. .
Composition:
1 tablet contains: 2 mg loperamide hydrochloride.
Other ingredients:
magnesium stearate (Ph.Eur.), microcrystal. cellulose, highly dispersible Silicon Dioxide, Croscarmellose Sodium.

Symptomatic treatment of diarrhea if no causal therapy is available.
Long-term use requires medical follow-up/acute:
For the symptomatic treatment of acute diarrhea in adults and children over 12 years of age if no causal therapy is available. Treatment with loperamide longer than 2 days may only be carried out with medical prescription and follow-up.
Contraindications:
hypersensitivity to the active ingredient or any of the excipients;
Children <12 yrs. (Children <2 years (absolute); children 2-12 years only on medical prescription); Conditions in which slowing down of bowel movements is to be avoided because of possible risks of sequelae. These include ileus, megacolon and toxic megacolon.
Loperamide hydrochloride must be discontinued immediately if constipation, abdominal distension or ileus occurs; no primary application for:
Do not use for diarrhea accompanied by fever and/or bloody stools; diarrhea that occurs during or after taking antibiotics (pseudomembranous [antibiotic-associated] colitis); bacterial intestinal inflammation caused by pathogens (e.g. salmonella, shigella and campylobacter) invading the intestinal wall; acute episode of ulcerative colitis;
Chronic diarrheal diseases (chronic diarrhea may only be treated with loperamide hydrochloride if prescribed by a doctor.) o. gone through liver disease. only after medical prescription (severe liver disease may delay breakdown of loperamide).
Pregnancy/Lactation:
Not recommended.
Side effects:
Most common NW from clin. Studies in acute diarrhea:
constipation (2.7%), flatulence (1.7%), headache (1.2%), nausea (1.1%); at chron. diarrhea flatulence (2.8%), constipation (2.2%), nausea (1.1%) and dizziness (1.2%); Acute diarrhea: Common: Headache; constipation, nausea, flatulence. Uncommon: dizziness; abdominal pain (incl. cramps), abdominal discomfort, dry mouth; upper abdominal pain, vomiting; Skin rash. Rare: distended abdomen. Chronic diarrhea: Common: dizziness; constipation, nausea, flatulence.
Uncommon:
headache; abdominal pain (incl. cramps), abdominal discomfort, dry mouth; Dyspepsia. acute+chronic Diarrhea:
Common:
Headache; Dizziness; constipation, nausea, flatulence. Uncommon: somnolence; abdominal pain (incl. cramps), abdominal discomfort, dry mouth; upper abdominal pain, vomiting; Dyspepsia. Rare: hypersensitivity reaction, anaphylactic reaction (including anaphylactic shock), anaphylactoid reaction; loss of consciousness, stupor, decreased consciousness, increased muscle tone, abnormal coordination; miosis; ileus (incl. paralytic ileus), megacolon (incl. toxic megacolon); distended abdomen; bullous eruption (incl. Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis and erythema multiforme), angioedema, urticaria, pruritus; urinary retention; Fatigue. (prescription/- acute tab. pharmacy only).
