CATHEJELL lubricant for catheters, endoscopes, probes, tubes, Mono sterile lubricant ZHS 12.5 g 25 pcs

Cathejell Mono Sterile Lubricating Gel.

Cathejell Mono is a sterile, water-soluble, clear gel used as a lubricant for catheters, endoscopes, probes, tubes, or other medical instruments.

Cathejell Mono serves to:

  • For instillation into the urethra prior to the insertion of a catheter or other instruments.
  • For use as a lubricant during the insertion of probes or endoscopes and during tracheal intubation (for use in respiratory procedures, in endoscopic procedures in the rectum and colon, as well as in endoscopic applications in the oro- and nasopharyngeal area and in gynecological applications).

Cathejell Mono is used as a lubricant for application to mucous membranes and is intended to alleviate pain during procedures. During catheterization, Cathejell Mono gently expands the urethra through instillation before the insertion of a catheter or other instrument, forming a lubricating film between the urethral mucosa and the instrument. The lubricating gel thus travels through the urethra ahead of the instrument, facilitating painless gliding. During catheterization, the patient relaxes the pelvic floor muscles, allowing the instrument to pass more easily from the urethra through the external sphincter.

Instructions for use:
Apply to the urethra before inserting a catheter, endoscope, or other medical instrument. Important: Instill slowly into the urethra before inserting any instruments. The bellows syringes contain 12.5 g or 8.5 g of gel, of which the intended amount of 10 g or 6 g, respectively, is to be administered into the urethra.

Method of application:
Cleaning and disinfecting the external urethral opening.
Peel back the paper from the clear sleeve to the blister's indentation.
Snap off the tip with a short, firm movement, if possible into the blister pack.
Remove the tip completely to prevent accidental insertion into the urethra.
Squeeze out a drop of gel to facilitate insertion of the applicator.
Slowly inject the gel by applying moderate pressure to the tip.

Use with endoscopes and probes:

  • The bellows syringes contain 12.5 g or 8.5 g of gel, of which the intended amount of 10 g or 6 g is applied.
  • Peel the paper backing from the clear sleeve until you reach the constriction of the blister pack.
  • Snap off the tip with a short, firm movement, if possible into the blister pack.
  • Remove the tip completely to prevent accidental penetration.
  • Apply the gel slowly by applying moderate pressure to the syringe. Apply the gel to the probe/endoscope/instrument according to the intended use and spread it evenly.

Application in airway management procedures and in tracheal intubation:

  • The bellows syringes contain 12.5 g or 8.5 g of gel, of which the intended amount of 10 g or 6 g is applied.
  • Peel the paper backing from the clear sleeve until you reach the constriction of the blister pack.
  • Snap off the tip with a short, firm movement, if possible into the blister pack.
  • Remove the tip completely to prevent accidental penetration.
  • Apply the gel slowly by applying moderate pressure to the syringe. Distribute the gel (approx. 5 g) evenly over the lower third of the endotracheal tube to ensure smooth insertion into the trachea. Apply the gel to the cuff before intubation to minimize the risk of microaspiration. The lubricating gel can also be applied to the introducer to facilitate smoother insertion and removal from the tube. To prevent drying, apply the gel to the instrument immediately before use. Do not allow the gel to enter the lumen of the endotracheal tube. The syringes are for single use only; discard any remaining gel.

Application with laryngeal masks (LMA):

  • The bellows syringes contain 12.5 g or 8.5 g of gel, of which the intended amount of 10 g or 6 g is applied.
  • Peel the paper backing from the clear sleeve until you reach the constriction of the blister pack.
  • Snap off the tip with a short, firm movement, if possible into the blister pack.
  • Remove the tip completely to prevent accidental penetration.
  • Apply the gel slowly by applying moderate pressure to the syringe. For correct application, a thin layer of Cathejell Mono should be applied to the back of the laryngeal mask. To minimize the risk of obstruction of the breathing port or inhalation of the lubricating gel, avoid leaving gel residue on the front of the cuff and in the mask bowl. The syringes are for single use only; discard any remaining gel. Dosage instructions: The bellows syringes contain 12.5 g or 8.5 g of gel, of which 10 g or 6 g, respectively, can be dispensed.

The amount of gel to be used depends on the patient's anatomy and the type of endoscope, catheter, tube, or probe/instrument being inserted. When catheterizing, never instill more than one syringe at a time. The contents of one syringe are sufficient to fill the urethra.

Cathejell Mono must not be used in cases of hypersensitivity (allergy) to any of its ingredients. Special care is required when using Cathejell Mono in the mouth and throat area, as it may cause difficulty swallowing. There is a risk of aspiration (inhalation) of the gel.
