Methyltetrahydrofolate, Quatrefolic, Folic acid

Quatrefolic ®

• Sublingual tablet for use directly under the tongue, bioactive folic acid as methyltetrahydrofolate (5-MTHF)
• Unique branded raw material Quatrefolic®
• 4-month pack with 800 μg per daily dose
• Highest raw material quality from German production

Folic acid is also used as a vitamin B9 is an important micronutrient for the body as an elementary component of many metabolic processes. The NatuGena folic acid composition is bioactive as methyltetrahydrofolate (5-MTHF) and is based on the patented Quatrefolic® formulation. Quatrefolic® has significant advantages compared to previous generations of folate as it does not affect the biological properties of 5-methyltetrahydrofolate. This remarkable advance is due to the development of Quatrefolic® glucosamine salt, which occurs in two main steps:
by improving the water solubility of 5-methyltetrahydrofolate, Quatrefolic® is defined as water soluble, which represents a significant opportunity to improve bioavailability, while the calcium salt version as difficult to dissolve.
Choosing glucosamine as a compound that occurs naturally in the body ensures a safe and high-quality, stable profile. This means that there can be no conversion losses.
Our folic acid consists of methyltetrahydrofolate (5-MTHF) and is effectively absorbed by the body as a sublingual tablet under the tongue. The bioactive form is a crucial quality feature, as most folic acid preparations are of synthetic origin and must first be converted into 5-MTHF in the organism.
Some people, especially at an advanced age, are no longer able to adequately convert synthetic folic acid into the bioactive form due to specific enzyme deficiencies. In these cases, taking bioactive folic acid is particularly beneficial.

Folic acid metabolism process in detail
As mentioned, synthetic folic acid must first be converted by the body into the active form 5-MTHF. This happens with the help of the enzyme dihydrofolic acid reductase. The intermediate product dihydrofolic acid (DHFR) is converted into tetrahydrofolic acid. The enzyme dihydrofolic acid reductase is encoded by the so-called gene DHFR. Mutations in this gene sequence can lead to a deficiency in the “folic acid enzyme”.

Folic acid:
• contributes to normal blood formation
• contributes to normal homocysteine metabolism
• contributes to normal function of the immune system
• contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue
• has a function in cell division
