MUXAN docosane cold sore treatment cream Indication / application

  • The preparation contains an antiviral agent.
  • The medicine is a cream used to treat early-stage cold sores (cold sores) in adults and adolescents (over 12 years of age).
  • To be effective, treatment with the preparation must be started in the early stages of a cold sore. That means before the bubbles appear.
  • Start using as soon as you get any of the symptoms of a cold sore such as redness, itching, pain, tingling or stinging. Continue treatment until the cold sore heals, usually 4 to 6 days.
  • The trigger for cold sores is an infection with the herpes simplex virus. The infection can break out when the immune system is weakened, under stress or during menstruation. The virus causes blisters or sores, mainly on the lips.

  • Adults and adolescents over 12 years:
    • Start treatment as soon as you notice the first symptoms or signs of a cold sore, such as: B. notice itching, stinging, burning or tingling sensation in the affected area.
    • Carefully apply a thin film to the entire cold sore 5 times a day (approximately every 3 hours while waking).

 

  • Duration of application
    • Continue treatment until completely healed, usually 4-6 days.
    • If you do not notice any improvement after 10 days, you must stop the treatment and contact your doctor.

 

  • If you use more than you should
    • There should not be a serious problem after applying a large amount of the cream to your skin. No special treatment is necessary.

 

  • If you forget to use it
    • If you forget to use it, apply it as soon as you remember.

 

  • If you have any further questions about the use of the medicinal product, ask your pharmacist.

    • Wash your hands thoroughly before and after treatment to prevent the infection from spreading.
    • Carefully apply a thin film to the entire cold sore 5 times a day (approximately every 3 hours while waking).
    • Use your fingertip or preferably a cotton swab and avoid touching the tube opening after touching the cold sore.
    • Remember that the cream is your medicine. If you loan the tube to someone else, you risk passing the infection on to others.

  • Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
  • When evaluating side effects, the following frequencies are used as a basis:
    • very common (more than 1 in 10 people),
    • common (between 1 in 10 and 1 in 100 people),
    • uncommon (between 1 in 100 and 1 in 1000 people),
    • rarely (between 1 in 1,000 and 1 in 10,000 people),
    • very rarely (less than 1 in 10,000 people).
  • Nervous system disorders
    • Very common: headache.
  • Skin disorders
    • Common: skin conditions including dry skin, rashes and swelling of the face where the cream has been applied.
    • If a more severe skin reaction occurs, stop treatment and if this skin problem persists, see your doctor.
  • Please inform your doctor or pharmacist if any of the listed side effects gets serious, or if you notice side effects that are not listed.
  • If you get any side effects, talk to your doctor or pharmacist. This also applies to side effects that are not specified.

  • Use with other medicines
    • The medicinal product must not be used with other locally applicable products (medicinal products, cosmetic products, creams) at the same place of administration.
    • It is unlikely to be affected or affected by other medicines as it is intended for skin use only. However, do not use other medicines for cold sores while using this product.
    • Ask your pharmacist if you have any further questions about how the preparation is influenced by other medicines or how it affects other medicines.
    • Please inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking / using or have recently taken / used any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription.

  • The drug must not be used
    • if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to docosan-1-ol or any of the other ingredients of the cream.

  • Special care is required when using it
    • The medicine is only intended for use on the skin. Avoid getting the cream in or near your eyes as it can cause irritation. If you accidentally get cream into your eyes, rinse them thoroughly with plenty of water.
    • Do not use this product if you have been told that you have a weakened immune system (if you know that the ability of your immune system to fight infectious diseases is reduced, e.g. if you have a serious illness such as leukemia or AIDS or if You have had an organ transplant). If you have a weakened immune system and develop a cold sore, you should consult your doctor immediately.
    • Do not use the cream if the cold sore already looks like a blister or an ulcer.
    • children
      • Children under 12 years of age are not allowed to use the preparation.

 

  • Driving and using machines
    • The preparation has no influence on the ability to drive and use machines.
