NADH is the reduced form of NAD (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) and is a coenzyme that is involved in numerous redox reactions in human cell metabolism. NADH is the biologically active form of niacin. Niacin and, as a result, NADH can be synthesized by humans from the essential amino acid tryptophan. It is present in various forms in practically all tissues of the body and its functions influence almost the entire metabolism.
