Preoperative whole-body decontamination
Current studies show that decontaminating whole-body washes, whether preventatively in intensive care units or preoperatively, can contribute significantly to reducing infections. Studies also show that nasal colonization by S. aureus plays a special role in the later infection process.

A combination of different measures can successfully reduce or prevent nosocomial infections.

application instructions

octenisan® washing lotion (once a day for up to 5 days):

• Wet hair and body completely.
• Apply the washing lotion undiluted to a damp and fresh washcloth.
• Apply the washing lotion evenly to the entire body,
  paying particular attention to the armpits. Allow contact time of 1 minute.
• Rinse thoroughly. Dry with a fresh towel.
• Every time: wear fresh clothes.

Instructions for use: Apply
octenisan® washing lotion undiluted to a damp, fresh washcloth and rub onto the relevant parts of the body for approx. 1 minute, then rinse off. Not suitable for children under 3 years of age.

octenisan® md nasal gel (twice daily for up to 5 days):

• Apply sufficient nasal gel to a cotton swab.
• Apply the gel to the surfaces of the nasal vestibules.
• Spread the gel by pressing the sides of the nostrils together. Remove any excess gel.

For moistening and decontamination of the nasal vestibules by physical cleaning and for supportive wound treatment in lesions of the nasal epithelium.

Areas of application
octenisan® md nasal gel is used to moisten, clean
and decontaminate the nasal vestibules.

It supplies the nasal vestibules with sufficient moisture when the nose dries out due to external influences and thus prevents
irritation.

Through this moistening, the hydrogel promotes the maintenance of the physiological environment and
thus prevents the settlement of bacteria.

Furthermore, the restoration of the physiological protective and cleansing function contributes to effective MRE decontamination
.

Lesions of the nasal epithelium are also supplied with moisture by the hydrogel
and can therefore heal optimally.

This is because the healing process requires the epithelial cells to be
able to divide and migrate. This is best achieved in a moist wound environment.
