Flaxseed oil - with essential Omega-3, Omega-6 & Omega-9 fatty acids

Omega 3 + consists of linseed oil, which is pressed from the seeds of the flax plant. In England, there is historical evidence that linseed was already used as food 2,000 years ago. In many countries, ground linseed has been used continuously as food for 3,000 years.

In North America, flax has been cultivated since 1793, primarily for its seeds and for the industrial production of flaxseed oil. Its benefits are the result of research into dietary fats and oils that began in the early 1960s, when the widespread promotion of unsaturated vegetable oils as a substitute for foods high in cholesterol, which were considered harmful to health, began. Physiological and clinical studies have shown that the majority of Western diets are deficient in omega-3 essential fatty acids. Most fats are nonessential, but we cannot exist without certain fatty acids. The n-3 unsaturated fatty acids are found in both fish and flaxseed oil. Flaxseed oil is one of the richest sources of alpha-linolenic acid found in nature.

Components of flaxseed oil
Flaxseed oil analyses have identified several components that occur in varying amounts. The main components of flaxseed oil are 50-60% omega-3 fatty acids (linolenic acid), 15-18% omega-6 fatty acids (linoleic acid), 15-20% omega-9 fatty acids (oleic acid), 3% saturated fats (stearic, lauric and palmitic acids) and traces of alpha-tocopherol, gamma-tocopherol and beta carotene.

Omega-3 fatty acids
Most of the properties of flaxseed oil are due to its high content of n-3 unsaturated fatty acids. These are commonly known as "omega-3" fatty acids and include alpha-linolenic acid (ALA). ALA is one of the most important omega-3 fatty acids and helps maintain normal blood cholesterol levels with a daily intake of 2 g of ALA. Linolenic acid and linoleic acid are classified as two of the essential fatty acids in food. This means that the body is unable to produce them and must obtain them from a food source. Linolenic acid is a polyunsaturated fatty acid. Linoleic acid helps maintain normal blood cholesterol levels with a daily intake of 10 g of linoleic acid. Replacing saturated fatty acids with unsaturated fatty acids in the diet helps maintain normal blood cholesterol levels. Oleic acid is an unsaturated fatty acid. The World Health Organization recommends that 4 to 10% of adults' daily calorie intake should come from polyunsaturated fatty acids.
