Dry skin can have many causes and is often associated with agonizing itching. This is caused by a lack of skin oils and natural moisturizing factors. The sensitive skin barrier becomes unbalanced and can no longer perform its protective function. However, scratching, the body's natural reflex, provides only brief relief from itching and can worsen symptoms. A vicious circle of itching, scratching and inflammation arises.

On the one hand, Optiderm ® quickly combats agonizing itching and also provides the skin with intensive moisture. Optiderm ® Lotion ensures that the skin is adequately oiled and that the skin's moisture is increased. Because it is well tolerated, the drug is also suitable for children.
With a unique combination of active ingredients
Optiderm ® is the only drug that contains a combination of the active ingredients urea (urea) and polidocanol. Urea is one of the best moisturizing factors and is often used as a basic therapy for dry skin. It cares for the skin and provides intensive moisture. The Polidocanol acts quickly against the excruciating itching.
The symptoms are often completely gone within a week. The skin barrier stabilizes and can resume its natural protective function. The lotion is free from preservatives, fragrances and colorings and is quickly absorbed.
RECOMMENDED USE:
Unless otherwise prescribed by a doctor, Optiderm ® Lotion is applied thinly to the affected areas of the skin twice a day. When using it, make sure that the lotion does not come into contact with the eyes and mucous membranes and do not apply the preparation to acutely inflamed, oozing or infected skin.
The duration of the application depends on the clinical picture and averages three weeks. If the skin remains dry, the lotion can also be used over a longer period of time.
BASIC CARE FOR DRY SKIN
Optiderm ® is ideal for daily basic care of dry and itchy skin. The cream stabilizes the skin barrier and can thus reliably counteract itching.
NEURODERMITIS
In patients with neurodermatitis, the urea content in the skin is significantly reduced. Optiderm ® can restore the skin's natural moisture and suppleness. The cream is suitable as therapy-accompanying care between the acute attacks.
For seniors
With age, the skin loses its ability to retain moisture. In addition, cell renewal and sebum production decline. The skin becomes drier, more sensitive and prone to itching. Medication can also cause itchy skin.
SCRATCH PADS
A scratch pad can help trick the itch. Instead of scratching the itchy area of skin, a wooden block covered with chamois leather is scratched - the scratch reflex is diverted and the itching subsides.

What is the best way to relieve itching?
Basically, you should avoid anything that can irritate your skin. This includes, among other things, rough clothing (for example made of wool), but also the consumption of alcohol and spicy foods. Wear airy clothing made from natural materials and watch out for cool temperatures in the bedroom - warmth and profuse sweating can make itchy. In order not to dry out the skin any further, we recommend using moisturizing cleansing products. Full baths should be avoided as far as possible; instead, shower with lukewarm water. Cooling or moist compresses can help provide quick relief from itching. A moisturizing, moisturizing skin care product such as Optiderm ® should then be applied.
Why not scratch if you are itchy?
Scratching is a natural reaction to itchy skin, but it only covers the itch for a short time. Scratching can also irritate sensitive, dry skin. In addition, it causes the release of inflammatory messengers such as histamine, which leads to further itching. Scratching can also cause minor injuries that make it easy for pathogens and harmful substances to penetrate the skin and cause infections. This can quickly lead to a vicious cycle of dry skin, itching, scratching and inflammation, which further exacerbates the symptoms.
Can Optiderm ® Lotion also be used on the face?
Optiderm is recommended for use on the face® cream. In the case of particularly dry and itchy skin, pharmacies also offer Optiderm ® Fettcreme, a drug with a high lipid content for stronger skin oiling.
Are the costs for Optiderm ® reimbursed by the health insurance?
Yes, Optiderm ® is reimbursable in certain pack sizes for children up to 12 years of age and for fish scale disease (ichthyosis).
